Awesome, eh? Our... 20 seconds of fame. But these aren't the only times we got on TV, there were a couple others, these are just the best. There's one of me jumping up when
Pau had an awesome dunk, but I couldn't find it a second time, ah well. Speaking of Pau though, he looked at me during the game, during a free throw. It was exciting. Second interaction with Pau, only this time he initiated it. Except, I think is smile turned into a frown after he looked at me. I don't think it was because of the Melo jersey I was wearing, instead I think it was what we were all chanting. In case you didn't catch the game, whenever Melo went to the free throw line, the crowd chanted "D-U-I!". And to further let you in the know, Melo was arrested for
suspicion of DUI last Monday. He apologized and everything, but we used it as our chanting device. I have no clue who started the chant, I think it was a guy a few rows behind us, but the whole damn Staples Center continued it. It was great. I wrote DUI on the back of my Melo jersey (or Ima's rather, that I was wearing), but that wasn't enough. Our first Nugget game we yelled "Melo Sux!", and our second we chanted "D-U-I". Awesome. Well, Pau looked at us when we chanted it, and I guess he saw my Nugget jersey and looked at me and smiled, but then frowned. I quickly felt really bad. I'm sorry, Pau. Anyway, the ABC announcers didn't like the chant either.
Jeff Van Gundy thought it was very classless of us. If you missed the game, watch this clip of us chanting "D-U-I" for the first time and Jeff's reaction.
haha. Someone tell Jeff to relax. Has he been coaching and commentating so long that he has forgotten what it is like to be a fan? We'll take all we can to put down an opposing player, no matter how much we like him. I personally love Melo, even though I write that he sucks all over Ima's jersey and yell it at him during the game. It's what we fans do! Nothing personal! But when a player does something as stupid as driving drunk, especially during a time when the team can either make or break the last few games that will qualify them for the Playoffs, then all etiquette is put aside. It's thrashing time. And it's the Playoffs. You're a No. 8 seed. We're No. 1. We own you. Just tell your fans to boo us when we go to Denver on Saturday, or better yet, how about you freaking win a game. You haven't beaten us all year. And this little speech isn't going to be read by a Denver fan, so I'll stop, haha. And besides,
Melo didn't even find our chant distracting, ah well. Game 2 is tonight, also in Los Angeles. It's going to be great. We just destroyed Denver on Sunday. Nothing they could do would stop us. They're going to have to adjust everything tonight, and we won't have to as much. But I have to admit, we're lucky
Iverson threw himself out of the game, otherwise the score probably would've become real close. He scored 7 points in under a minute before getting thrown out of the game. Let's hope we contain him tonight. Though, if Kobe shoots better than 9/26, won't really matter. But it will, so show some defense. Hold 'em to under 100 so all the Staples kids get tacos tonight. And be noisy crowd,
they love it!
Now I haven't said a word of this post's title yet, haha. It's
Kal Penn's birthday today (Happy Birthday by the way) so I decided to put up his interview with
Conan from Monday. But not only because it's his birthday. I like Kal Penn. I uncontrollably cry at least four times every time I watch
The Namesake, though that could be just as much thanks to
Mira as him. And although I thought
Harold and Kumar 1 was kind of pointless, and think that
Harold and Kumar 2 will probably kill it, I want to go see it so I'm supporting the guy (and why it didn't come out
4.20 weekend is beyond me; it would've made so much money on Sunday and knocked
Jackie and
Jet off a bamboo tree). I think
John Cho was supposed to go on the show Monday and Kal was picked instead because John canceled or something. Either way, it was a strange interview. Kal Penn does the same facial movements has his characters, it's kind of funny. And him being Indian makes it even more funny for some reason. He and
M. Night, the two only mainstream Indians in entertainment, haha. Those two guys make me laugh. Anyway, Kal Penn talks about how he's not at all anything like Kumar, he doesn't smoke pot and he used to be a vegetarian, in fact, he's a guest lecturer at
UPenn (Penn at Penn, ironic, eh?). And though I already knew that, it was hilarious watching how Conan compared Kumar to Kal Penn. Oh, and by the way, I keep calling him Kal Penn because his real name was Kalpen Modi, he went the way that
Gogol did in
Namesake, which I found ironic. Wow, there are a lot of ironic things about this guy aren't there? Anyway, catch the interview
here.
Alright, before I head out of here and get ready for the game (on
TNT and
FSN, on FSN HD on
Time Warner Cable 413 here in LA), I wanted to put up two highlights from Sunday. Two great plays. I'm omitting
Kobe's ally oop dunk because I won't add it as a great play just because it was an ally oop or just because Kobe did it - I'm not
SportsCenter (them adding random games to their top 10 based on significance pisses me off. Top 10 plays, not top 10 significances!). Both are assisted plays (one could even be considered a triple assist if it were possible!) which makes it that much better. The Lakers pass the ball well. So catch those below. And also, before I go, I forgot to mention our favorite
Ronny was really down on Sunday, turns out he was sick.
Ronny won't be in the Center tonight so that he can recover, and because
Mbenga bruised his ribs in practice the other day, perhaps we'll get to see
Coby Karl on the court and get a career high in front of his
pops! I'm out of here. Make sure to catch the game tonight at 7:30, it's gonna be a... doozy. Take care everyone! see u.
