I was probably one of the very few people on the West Coast excited for the
Big East Tournament starting today in New York, especially since the
Pac-10 Tournament started today as well, but in Los Angeles. I say "was" excited because my excitement died in a matter of two hours this morning. There is one, and only one, college basketball team that I look forward to watching and that is the
Syracuse men's basketball team. Don't ask me why, I sit in the corner for hours wondering that myself, I just enjoy watching them play. Today, they played as the No. 9 seed, of 12, in the Tournament, playing the No. 8 seed
Villanova (a team they've played
twice this year, losing against them at home but beating them on the road). The winner of the game would go on to play No. 1 ranked
Georgetown tomorrow morning. Both the 'Cuse and Villanova had the same conference record of 9-9 and both teams were arguably on the edge of being one of those 65
NCAA Tournament teams. Whoever would win today's game would probably go on to the NCAA Tournament, after their Big East Tournament was over – and if the winner were to defeat Georgetown tomorrow (a team that Syracuse had already beaten during the regular season), they would without a doubt go on to the NCAA Tournament, as Georgetown is currently ranked 9th in the country. The game started well, the 'Cuse took a quick lead in the first, but ended the half allowing Villanova to go on an 8-0 run and letting them go into halftime down by only a point.
Villanova unfortunately ended up taking over the second half by dropping in an enormous amount of 3s; the 'Cuse just couldn't compete. But a word of congratulations should be said to
Jimmy Boeheim and
his Orangemen because they went the majority of the season with only 7 players, as two of their stars,
Devendorf and
Rautins, were injured: torn
ACL and
knee injury, respectively. The team was led by the freshman
Jonny Flynn, who played almost every second of every game, and rounding up their big 3 were freshman
Donte' Green and sophomore
Paul Harris (my favorite). All, including the other two starters, juniors
Ongenaet and
Onuaku, did beyond excellent jobs, especially considering they were not expected to go anywhere this season after the major injuries. And even though they aren't going to go anywhere, haha, for those of them who will stay and go back to
Syracuse next year (seemingly all of those starters), they will perform greatly, Insha Allah.
Alright, so that was my little farewell address to the 'Cuse men. Now on to happier things.
South Park's 12th season starts tonight, and it's
starting with a bang,
Cartman gets a tonsillectomy and then ends up being diagnosed with an incurable disease. Way to go fat boy. Anyway, it looks like it's going to be a fun one. And it better be, because after the second half of Season 11, I'm kind of feeling that South Park is getting a little lame. I mean, that Crap episode and those Imaginationland episodes, they were just plain boring. And not to bag on South Park even more, but the ad campaign for the show is kind of weak too. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was pretty cool, but it was kind of pointless and generic, unless of course the first half of Season 12 is riddled with silhouetted profiles. Who knows. Hopefully, tonight's episode will make me happier and I will lose my bitterness! So catch it tonight at 10 on
Comedy Central. It'll hit
Amazon Unbox,
iTunes, and
Xbox LIVE Marketplace on Friday, but I'll have it up on the site to download tomorrow – but like I say every time a new season starts, I'm giving it out free just in case you guys couldn't catch it, I don't get any money from this site, so in no way do I profit. So don't sue me Comedy Central. Thanks! Oh, and available below is a stream of one of their funny promos, haha.
Alright, before I go, how about them
Rockets, eh?
20 straight... and they're
No. 2 in the West behind the
Lakers! We both play games Friday night, they are at home against the
Bobcats (best website in sports) and we are in New Orleans to play the
Hornets, and play each other on Sunday. But because everyone says that the Rockets will destroy the Bobcats giving them 21 straight, they're starting to hype up the Sunday game. It was initially supposed to be a regular away game played at 4 in the afternoon on
KCAL9, but due to flexed scheduling the game will now be at 12:30 and also shown nationally on
ABC. They want everyone to witness the Lakers topple the Rockets' win streak and defend their own 33-straight streak! So I'll do my part to hype it to, Laker. Rockets. 12:30. ABC or KCAL9. Be there. Alright, I'm out. Take care everyone. see u.
