Monday, March 24, 2008 @ 6:55 PM PDT - Warriors at Lakers
Warriors at LakersWhat a day, what a day. Yesterday I mean. Did you forget? Ima and I went to the Warrior/Laker game. 11th row seats! I even rented a Canon 100mm f/2 from LensRentals.com just for the occasion! Please tell me you remembered.

Either way, I'll tell you about what happened. As you may have known, every year there's a Fiesta Lakers event: full of Lakers, food, games, and Mexican music (what's a fiesta without Mexican music?). Well it was Ima's and my first Fiesta Lakers so we didn't realize how packed it would be. Turns out, the line to get in was a half-mile long, stretched all around the Staples Center and into the Convention Center. It was quite a sight, I'll tell you. Even though Ima and I had tickets, we didn't feel like waiting in such a huge line – well we did, but just to pass the time, haha - so we gave the tickets away. We got paid a hefty amount for them too, I'll tell ya'. We went to Plan B instead.

No, Plan B is not some night club in Downtown, it was our next idea. We decided to scrap the getting autographs part of the day (who the heck wants autographs anyway...) and go to the D-Fender game. We were going to do so anyway, we just got a little head start doing so this way. You may be asking yourself, when's a D-Fender? To that I'd reply, it's not a "when" idiot, it's a "what" – even a "who" would've been acceptable. How in the hell did you come up with a "when"? Wow. Anyway, I'd reply the D-Fenders are the Lakers' Development team. You see, there's a minor league under the NBA called the Development League where players play to get ready for the big league, the NBA. Two current Lakers came from the D-Fenders, Jordan Farmar and Coby Karl. Two loved players. Anyway, if there's a D-Fender game on the day of the Laker game you have tickets to, you can go to the D-Fender game for free, and that's what we did (pathetically though, we saw some two old ladies that bought D-Fender tickets specially...), and boy were we happy we did so. No one was there. No one. Probably 50 people, max. Because of that, we got to sit so close! Ima and I got behind the scorer's table, mid-court! Having no one in attendance didn't only help our view of the game, it also go us to be part of the half time show! That's right! Ima and I were the half time entertainment at the D-Fender game! We competed with these two other people at free throws, and we whooped them! (we didn't, but we can say we did because no one was at the game to remember) We got a few goodies too, haha. Got some great shots to boot! Plus, Ima's new favorite D-Fender, Cecille Brown, looked at him when he yelled "UCSB"! But you know, I'm leaving almost the best part out....

Sunday, March 16, 2008 @ 10:20 AM PDT - Houston's goin' down!
Pau Gasol pleadsThe Lakers just cannot hold on to a proper center since Shaq ditched us! I of course made that sound more dramatic that it actually is, the span has only been a few years, but come on right? Never mind just the centers, injuries in general have been hurting us forever. You all know the huge injuries this year, Bynum and Ariza going down. But those turned out to be good injuries – if they had not gone down, we would not have Pau Gasol right now and we would still have... I don't want to say his name.

Even if you caught the Friday night Laker game in New Orleans, you still might have missed the big story, and it wasn't us losing. It happened in the first few minutes: Pau sprained his ankle when awkwardly landing on Radmanovic while Kobe was dancing. Pau quickly left the game with support from others. They then told us he wouldn't be back for the remainder of the game, then later told us the x-rays came back negative but that he wouldn't be able to play the rest of the road trip. It all seemingly began to worsen by the second.

The thought of Pau being out for a few games was a terrible idea. Until the Hornets game, Pau had played 18 full games with us, 15 of which we won. Before Pau came, but after Bynum got hurt, that span of 8 games, we only won 3. I'm not counting those first two February games where we destroyed both the Raptors and the Wizards, because Pau was with us in spirit and the other guy already left. But 3 of 8 without our good centers! The thought haunts us! Even though we were, and still are, No. 1 in the West, we are only 4 games from being No. 8! 4 games! The West is so tight that if we were to lose 4 straight games while everyone else were to win 4 straight, we'd be out of the Playoffs!

Wednesday, March 12, 2008 @ 9:15 PM PDT - New South Park tonight!
South Park Season 12I was probably one of the very few people on the West Coast excited for the Big East Tournament starting today in New York, especially since the Pac-10 Tournament started today as well, but in Los Angeles. I say "was" excited because my excitement died in a matter of two hours this morning. There is one, and only one, college basketball team that I look forward to watching and that is the Syracuse men's basketball team. Don't ask me why, I sit in the corner for hours wondering that myself, I just enjoy watching them play. Today, they played as the No. 9 seed, of 12, in the Tournament, playing the No. 8 seed Villanova (a team they've played twice this year, losing against them at home but beating them on the road). The winner of the game would go on to play No. 1 ranked Georgetown tomorrow morning. Both the 'Cuse and Villanova had the same conference record of 9-9 and both teams were arguably on the edge of being one of those 65 NCAA Tournament teams. Whoever would win today's game would probably go on to the NCAA Tournament, after their Big East Tournament was over – and if the winner were to defeat Georgetown tomorrow (a team that Syracuse had already beaten during the regular season), they would without a doubt go on to the NCAA Tournament, as Georgetown is currently ranked 9th in the country. The game started well, the 'Cuse took a quick lead in the first, but ended the half allowing Villanova to go on an 8-0 run and letting them go into halftime down by only a point.

Villanova unfortunately ended up taking over the second half by dropping in an enormous amount of 3s; the 'Cuse just couldn't compete. But a word of congratulations should be said to Jimmy Boeheim and his Orangemen because they went the majority of the season with only 7 players, as two of their stars, Devendorf and Rautins, were injured: torn ACL and knee injury, respectively. The team was led by the freshman Jonny Flynn, who played almost every second of every game, and rounding up their big 3 were freshman Donte' Green and sophomore Paul Harris (my favorite). All, including the other two starters, juniors Ongenaet and Onuaku, did beyond excellent jobs, especially considering they were not expected to go anywhere this season after the major injuries. And even though they aren't going to go anywhere, haha, for those of them who will stay and go back to Syracuse next year (seemingly all of those starters), they will perform greatly, Insha Allah.

Friday, March 7, 2008 @ 11:45 PM PST - Just a month left to go
Warriors at Lakers, Sunday, March 23, 2008The last time the Lakers destroyed the Clippers, I was fortunate enough to be sitting there in Staples Center cheering them on. February 23rd, it was a close game until the third quarter came rolling around, that's when Kobe and the gang took control; it's also when Robyn and I went to get pretzels and milkshakes, they were yummy. Tonight's game was kind of like that other game, we ended up destroying them in the third – a 16 - 35 quarter – but the pretzels and milkshakes were curiously absent.

What else happened in tonight's game? Every player on the Laker's current active roster scored, including 51 of the 118 points scored coming off the bench. And because the bench was on the court for most of the fourth quarter, every reserve was doing excellent. They made six of their eight 3-point shots! Lakers went 60% from the outside! The inside reserves were also pretty hot, Ronny had 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 blocks! DJ also looked great out there, getting three straight jump shots! But the best part of tonight's bench? 6 of those 51 bench points came from Coby Karl, giving him a new career high! The crowd went nuts! Mac from Sunny was in attendance too, and he went ballistic just like the rest of us! I've been saying it for a long time, and we all love the guy – that guy is one freaking hot shooter, such a beautiful shot!

And because the Nuggets beat the Spurs tonight, the Lakers are once again atop the West, a half game in front of the Spurs! We have the same amount of losses, but we have one more win than they do. With just a little over a month left to go in the regular season, it really does look like we'll be able to keep that No. 1 title! And an even better part? The Suns lost tonight, again. The Warriors are now only a game and a half behind them, which means the Suns are very close to not making the Playoffs! Even though I'd love to play the Suns in the first round and beat them senseless, I'd rather them not make the Playoffs at all and go cry in the corner. That would be a great sight. Shaq making them better? Wow, that trade was the dumbest move of the season. The Suns will not recover.

Tuesday, March 4, 2008 @ 11:25 PM PST - Logitech LX 710
Logitech LX 710Before I go on talking about my awesome new keyboard and mouse, please tell me you caught tonight's Laker game. Man was it fantastic or what?! We didn't have a lead until there were four minutes left in the fourth, the quarter in which Kobe had 17 of his 34 points - all of which were in the second half of the quarter - and we followed it by going on a 14 - 0 run. Oh, and Kobe hit 21,000 points tonight, second youngest ever! Our defense was horrible though: we gave them so many points in the paint and so many points off of turnovers. At one point, they had four or five times as many fast break points than we did! Our bench was horrible too, only 9 points, and only 2 of which were in the first half; considering we average over 30 points a game, that's terrible. The big three though ended with 84 points, with Fish adding 17 and Walton adding 7 - and they had to as we ended with 117 points to the Kings' 105. It was a great final six minutes of the half, I hope you caught all of it! Now it's three straight games at home! And make sure to catch Kobe's post-game interview after the jump!

Okay, now I'm ready to talk peripherals! Every year, my parents and I have a fuss over what they're going to buy me. One year it was a TV, the next year it was a watch, and last year it was a pony. Only kidding of course, who needs a watch? Anyway, this year I was all set on getting nothing (as I am every year) and it turns out I got a keyboard and mouse combo instead. But not any old keyboard and mouse combo, the keyboard and mouse combo I've been eyeing for months but have for some reason never bought for myself, the Logitech LX 710! It's everything I want and more. Wireless, plenty of hot keys, plenty of customizable buttons, comfortable, and just damn beautiful. And I'm loving it! Except...
