Alright, so the Saints lost Monday night. And not only did they lose the game, they lost Deuce. Yes. He's gone. The starting running back tore his ACL in the left knee after jumping up high for a ball thrown by Brees when he was under pressure. The play led to zero gained yards. So basically, it was probably one of the worst choices of the game. This all happened in the beginning of the game too. Deuce was supposed to run a lot of plays Monday night, Reggie isn't as great as Deuce is when it comes to running straight through the hole, and it being their third game, they needed some answers. Deuce was supposed to be one of them. But the Titans' defensive line, especially Haynesworth, was getting all over the runners, so the running game may not have been too hot. Anyway, Deuce ended up leaving the game and he now needs surgery and is out for the whole season! So what are the Saints going to do? Can Reggie replace Deuce? They've tried it in the past. Reggie just can't go down the middle, he seems too scared, he finds the need to run to the sides like he loved to do at USC. So Reggie probably won't replace him. But then who? Aaron Stecker will probably take over his job. But it still won't be the same. Deuce really brought a lot, not this year so far though. So they've lost all of their games so far. But this third game was very winnable. Very, but was not. There was one fumble in the fourth that changed it all. Brees' fumble. Brees had five turnovers the whole game, four interceptions (those are Grossman numbers! Even worse, he only has six interceptions, Brees has seven... and Grossman was replaced with veteran Griese - Brees won't be replaced!) and one fumble. The fumble really did it for the Saints. It was 17 - 14 before the fumble, Saints were down by three, but were up by four for a good while. Saints had it a little past midfield on Titans territory, the fourth quarter had just begun, and Brees was rushed and the Titans forced a fumble. Titans recovered. Vince threw for a touchdown. We were down by 10. When we got the ball back again, it was intercepted, for the second time by Bulluck. Titans got it down for field goal range. They missed! We were still down by 10 with a little under five minutes left in the game. A touchdown and a field goal would tie it and we could go on further! We still had a chance. But two game minutes later, Drew threw another interception. Third one. Titans ran that in for a touchdown. Okay, down by 17. Three game minutes left. We were probably going to lose, but we couldn't give up. What happens? Less than two minutes later, another interception. And that was the game. If that fourth quarter fumble did not happen, who knows how the game could've ended. Saints had no rhythm in the first quarter, found it in the second, maintained it in the third, and lost it all over again in the fourth. Now what? Bye week. Panthers in Week 5 at home and then we go from there. Tied for last in the division with the Falcons; Panthers and Bucs both are 2 - 1, and they play each other in Week 4. Can the Saints make it back to the Playoffs? I'm going to guess that the two Wild Cards are going to be both in the NFC East (again), Redskins and Eagles, so that means the Saints have to get to the top of their division. Will they be able to? ... Yes, it's possible. Is it probable? Shut up. Go Saints!
But let's forget about the woes of football for a while. Let's focus on happier things, laughable things, electronic things. The first remote controlled flying bee! Yipee! Seinfeld's Bee Movie comes out in little over a month and I can't wait! Neither can others it seems because a company called WowWee (the company behind RoboSapien) made a remote controlled bee, a Barry B. Benson remote controlled bee! It goes 18mph! But can only go 50 feet. So it kind of sucks, probably way too heavy. But isn't that thing damn hilarious? Just look at it. They should have a special one with the Jerry suited one. That would be even more hilarious! And for $50, this thing is great. I'd so buy this over Halo 3 (honestly, that game has always scared the crap out of me, one of the greatest games ever, but too scary!). It's out at RadioShack and Toys "R" Us stores in October. Anyone want to buy it for me? It'll only add to my remote controlled air vehicle collection! haha, this thing is too hilarious. That's all guys. New episodes of Sunny tonight, something about some stupid guy from high school being a cool fashion designer, and episode two has the gang solving the North Korea situation after some Koreans try to get rid of Paddy's Pub. Sounds great. Remember to catch it tonight on FX at 10, and if you miss it, I'll have it up. Oh, and I know I kind of dissed Halo 3 a second ago, but I really do love the game, but I'm not too excited about it as I love the multiplayer aspect of it the most and everyone's off at college so I can't do that. So instead of buying that I bought skate., that game is awesome! I shopped victoriously. It hasn't come yet so I've been playing the demo for a few days. I'll post about it when it comes, Insha Allah. And I hope all you college kids had a good first day of classes. Until next time everyone, take care. see u. |

| Monday, September 24, 2007 @ 2:50 PM PDT - Saints' First Win is Tonight |
|
Don't talk! Let me preface by saying that I am real tired. Extremely exhausted. More exhausted than if I had been walking behind cars all day. I haven't been this tired since that one summer in Acapulco when that clown wouldn't stop tormenting me. Look, I'm so exhausted that I'm making up stories about clowns, I don't even like clowns. They're always staring at you with a smile, giving you that stink eye. I don't know what a stink eye is but it sure does smell bad. This guy in a white Eclipse was giving me the stink eye today, then he parked in front of my car and got out and I thought he was going to do something to my car but he ended up just walking towards me instead. I confronted him, and he got scared. Turned out he wasn't even looking at me. I was dumb enough to go walking around the Sepulveda Dam today with my camera to take shots for my class at high noon. You shouldn't do that when you don't have access to water. I lost vision a few times - you know, like if you get up real fast and then your head starts to spin? Like that but I wasn't getting up. Then I drove to Fry's and walked by miles and miles of liquid they sell before you checkout. I love Vault. I should've bought one. When I break this fast tonight I'm not going to consume any solid foods, I'm going to bask in two gallons of water. Yes, that shall be fantastic.
Anyway, the real reason I wanted to write this post today is to let all of you guys know that the Saints' first Monday Night Football game is tonight at 5:30 on ESPN ( Countdown starts at 4). They are 0 - 2 and it'll be their first game at home all year, which might warrant the two losses already. The first was against the Colts and the second against Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay is in their division and it is leading the division right now. Falcons are last and the Panthers are second. Who knew they had such a difficult division? They shouldn't. Tonight the Saints play the Titans. They are last in their division, but they at least have a win. Saints have been looking horrible, extremely awful. Beyond words ugly. I only got to see Game 1, but a few "highlights" (I use that term very loosely) showed me that Game 2 was just as bad, especially against Tampa Bay. Reggie's gone backwards in development, none of the receivers are getting any balls, Brees looks real amateurish, Deuce is hardly in the game, not to mention the defense! But this team has been an offensive team from the start, and they can't even get that together! But we all know they have it in them. We all know the Saints are a fantastic and amazing team with a fantastic and amazing city and fans. They can totally pull it together tonight. It's the first home game. 0 - 2? They were in the NFC Championship Game last year against the horrible, horrible Bears (the Bears are horrible, that was just another sad display of Wrecks Grossman last night, Cowboys are looking great though!). They're going to pull it together tonight, they are not an 0 - 2 team. Not at all. The Titans' wide receivers are saying that they're going to mess with the Saints' cornerbacks because they have been getting such bad treatment lately that all they will be thinking about is covering their men. So the Titans want to play mind games, eh? We'll see if any of that works. Tonight will be the Saints' first win, and then with next week's Bye they'll be even more ready for the Panthers and beyond. Vince Young, LenDale White, Reggie Bush, it's Rose Bowl 2006 all over again - except Leinart is in Arizona (and was sadly kicked out of the QB position yesterday) and Vince won't win the game again. Tonight's game is going to be off the hook! Go Saints! Oh, and I'm now getting love from those four colleges I mentioned earlier, thanks guys! I'll visit you soon!1! Take care everyone, see u. |

| Friday, September 21, 2007 @ 8:20 PM PDT - Sunny Rain |
|
Creative title, eh? Why the heck is it raining? This makes no sense. Two weeks ago it was blazing hot, last week it was the best weather in forever, and now rain. I'm not saying I don't like it, even though I probably sound like I am; I love the rain. And for those of you that are leaving this weekend to go to college (it's college weekend everybody!), don't worry, you'll get to experience at least one more day of LA rain before you depart - it's supposed to rain a little bit tomorrow morning, but who knows how accurate that is as this rain is late. I took the opportunity of this rainy day, more like night, to take some photos. It hasn't rained in so long so this photo shoot was real fun. I stood outside with my camera on its tripod and a big umbrella covering us. Very cozy. I, and I'm sure so many others, love the way water looks when the shutter is open long enough, it doesn't even look like water! Not sure what it looks like, but definitely not water. There's one shot to the left. My photo shoot was cut short because my Mom got mad at me for standing in the street. Like any car would hit an umbrella - really.
Anyway, the real reason I sat down to post tonight is to link the new Sunny eps! In case you missed last night's episodes, here's what happened. (Do I hear thunder?) The first episode of the night, episode 3, started out with Frank ( Danny DeVito, who by the way I'm surprised a lot of people are hating on the show, I love him) entering the bar exclaiming that his kids' (Dennis and Dee) mother is dead. He was ecstatic! The show revolved around Dee and Frank trying to get the money that the mother gave away because she didn't give anything to those two - she gave the house to Dennis though. Dennis and the other two guys meanwhile realized that they were total loners and had no friends, so they gave out fliers to collect friends. Sounds funny enough, but it gets even more hilarious after that, haha. Oh, and Dennis and Dee's real father comes back (he was in the final episode of season 2), who is played by the dad in 7th Heaven, Stephen Collins (how did that show just finish, I thought it's been over for a while!). In the second episode of the night, episode 4, the McPoyles come back to seek their revenge from what had occurred at the end of episode 2. They take the bar and the gang hostage - the gang has to fight for its survival and they decide that to survive, no one can die. Sounds like a plan to me! This episode, I felt, was much better overall than the first, but the first one's second half was great. But I don't really like how I'm comparing the two - they were both great; the only reason I and everyone else is even comparing the two is because we saw them back-to-back. If they were a week apart, we'd have nothing to say. But I love this back-to-back stuff, otherwise I'd tear my hair out in suspense. I think I love this show more than I do South Park (which by the way has its Season 11 and a half premiere on October 3rd!). If you missed the two episodes, you can easily watch them from the Sunny page, here. But of course catch them Thursday nights on FX at 10PM.
Before I head out for the night, I wanted to give you guys another little treat. In one of my classes at Santa Monica, this lady came in (I don't even remember if she's in the class) and she said that if anyone has to buy books published by Pearson (that includes Prentice Hall and Penguin Group and other jazz) that she has a code that will give us 20% off and free shipping via FedEx (yuck!), because she works for Pearson. And since it's college weekend and the vast majority of you will be heading off to college in a few days (some of you already have), I thought I'd share this secret code with you. Sorry I hadn't posted it earlier, I hope you guys procrastinated on book buying. And not all books are made by Prentice Hall, so this code only works for those, but all of my textbooks were Pearson, so who knows. Anyway, here it is. "pearsonfamily07". When you go to the site, you can search for the title of the book, or faster if you know the ISBN, then type that in. Then you have to sign up and do all that stuff and when you get to the payment method part, it will ask you if you have a Coupon Code. It's optional, but you got that option. Type in "pearsonfamily07" (without quotes, obviously) and you will get a 20% discount. The free shipping is available to everyone, code or not, if you do Ground, but Overnight is only $10-$15 so what the hell! And if I bought all my books from them, I would've saved almost $50. But don't let this be your only resort of course. Scan Amazon and Half and see if there are any used for cheaper, if not, go ahead with these guys. I just hope it helps you guys out a little, textbooks can be killer for your wallets (or fanny packs).
Alright, that's all I got for you guys. I hope those of you that are leaving this weekend will stay safe in your new homes and that you enjoy yourselves. And remember to not forget about modenadude.com, I'm expecting to see a boost of nationwide hits. I've already got a boost from New York, San Diego, and the UK, oddly enough. I'm expecting more from LA and Santa Barbara. I'm not forcing you to visit the site every so often in your new homes, or even tell every single person you can about the site, but it'll be greatly appreciated, haha. Okay, that's all. Happy Yom Kippur to the Jews, we'll all be fasting together tomorrow, Insha Allah (I had the date wrong last week, I put last year's Yom Kippur up), and remember Christians, go on a diet tomorrow. Okay, stay safe everyone. Take care. see u. |

Some people say I'm a Microsoft fanboy (I sure the hell am not an Apple fanboy!), but truth be told, I'm not. There are many thing I don't like about Microsoft - there are many things I have to say about some software it distributes or the way it conducts business at times - but at the same time, I say Microsoft is great. It has some great, great products and the world would be lost without it. And I think, that if you are ever talking about whether or not a company is great, if there is another company out there that is in close competition that the other company must me mentioned in the same sentence - much like Canon and Nikon. So Apple is that other company. I don't hate Apple. Sure, I don't like them, the products, but Apple as a company is great. Great advertising, knows how to make things that people will want to buy, knows how to create loyal (and snobby) followers. But personally, everything that Apple makes is a waste - to a point. Everything that Apple has made has either competed with others making the competition better, or created something new that the competitors tried, and tries, to make better. The best example of this is of course the famous iPod. iPod is everything! The term that we have created for streaming audio clips over the Internet, podcasting, will forever be associated with iPod, even if (very unlikely) it dies away. While iPod didn't start it all, it sure did lead the way. It took so much MP3 player market share that the other guys were so lost; they could not find their way into people's shopping carts remotely as fast. But that's a good thing. Why? Competition.
Competition is what makes this world so great. We would be nowhere without competition, especially in the gadget world. The best companies (to bring up Microsoft and Apple again) were started because they wanted to be the best. It's natural. So, it's natural that if a company was the best in everyone else's eyes, that other companies would want to overthrow them. Naturally. Many tried to overthrow iPod of course. Oh so many. Sansas, Archoses, ZENs, irivers, iAUDIOs, Yepps, Walkmans. The list goes on and on. But none of them could, of course. But why couldn't they? Was it because those products weren't as amazing as the amazing iPod? Or was it because the other companies weren't as well-known? I think the latter. Some ZENs and irivers were way more ahead of their time than iPods (and still are somewhat)! But, those products did not prevail. The name of Apple, its image, is what kept its product alive. The flaws that the iPod had were overlooked. The deteriorating battery life overtime, the constant, constant scratches; the iTunes music store, the inability to change the battery on your own. The iPod fans ignored these faults, so too did the to-be iPod fans. The Apple name is what kept them alive.
And then another name came out. Microsoft. It had already taken over the gaming field - Nintendo at one point was on top with the N64, and then the PS2 from Sony came out and somewhat threw that off its thrown, and then the Xbox came over and took it all over; now the 360 is the best guy up there - and now it would try to take over the portable audio field. But how could it? It was more than half a decade too late! iPods were in more than half of the MP3 player kids' pockets! Could it take over? Well, it had to try. And so it did. It released the Zune in November of 2006. It boasted a much larger screen, much better color quality, much better OS, and a much better online downloading service. It also added this other thing. Wi-Fi. We all use Wi-Fi on an almost day-to-day basis, but not in the same way the Zune does. Granted the Wi-Fi wasn't used to it full potential, limiting the Wi-Fi to only connect to others to send files, but even that was amazing - the idea of connecting to another player. But somehow, having a well known name of Microsoft somewhat backfired. Ironic. The Apple fanboys were still on top. But that didn't mean that Zunes were pushed away, it did manage to steal about ten percent of the market by letting others into their social; it isn't second place, but it's a close third behind SanDisk. Yet, the technology that the Zune brought to the market had a great effect than the actual product did. The larger screens and that new thing in MP3 players called Wi-Fi was a big jump. It meant that the iPod was starting to kind of fall behind. They hadn't really released anything really good, anything really new and amazing like they were known for. So they went back to the drawing boards. We all know what happened next (and most recently), the release of that iPhone and then the release of the iPod touch, an iPhone without a phone. That iPhone without a phone also had Wi-Fi like the Zune, and it added a touch screen (which may or may not make a lot more people complain about scratches and smudges). Competition at its finest.
But the Zune did not die. Oh no! It's down, but it ain't out. There were some leaks in Microsoft that led to ZuneScene obtaining info on the new Zune, but prices, specs, and photos. It's now all over the web. Alright, now for the details. The guy at Microsoft told ZuneScene yesterday that there are three new Zunes coming out. Two Flash-based Zunes (codename Draco) and one new hard drive based Zunes (codename Scorpio). Sized 4GB, 8GB, and 80GB, respectively. He also said that the screens were amazing and that they did away with the circle navigation. They're adding a squircle. Now, I didn't know what that was either, but I found out it's a real shape that is a mix between a circle and a square (not a Pokémon), so basically a square with rounded edges (much like half of this site's layout!). This will be the player's navigation. Pink, Red, Black, and (army) Green were mentioned as colors, but only shown for the flash-based Zunes. The 80GB Zune only has black listed, but who knows. Pricing will be the same as the new iPods, $149, $199, and $249, respectively. And launch date? Next month. October 16th. That means you get to play Halo 3 for a few weeks and then buy one (or all three!) of these guys. But, there's still no word on battery life nor Wi-Fi. We know that the iPod touch has a music store and Internet via Wi-Fi, but no word on that for the new Zunes. But let's be honest, I want to listen to music and watch videos on my Zune, not browse the web. I have a phone for that. All-in-one devices suck (a la iPhone). So what does this all mean? Apple has the next move? Well, it just released the new iPods last week. And who knows, this Zune may not be that great; or you know what, it might be a hit. I think that Apple was really smart to bring back the " classic" iPod because I know there are a lot of people out there who do not want to be touching their screens the whole time while listening to their music. But on Microsoft's end, it needs something really great to bring in a lot more customers. Either something banging that the guys haven't let slip, or make those old things more banging and work a lot better, or of course the new iPods could just not be as cool because they are stealing their designs from other products under the same companies and then Zunes rule all. Who knows. We won't find out for a month or two. I'm buying the new Zune though, Insha Allah, right when it hits. That's how I roll. Okay, that's all folks, I gotta get to class. Take care everyone. see u. |

| Friday, September 14, 2007 @ 3:35 PM PDT - Sunny's Back! |
|
Now that I'm not eating, I've got so much time on my hands! This is the third day in a row with a post!
I have a question for all of you. How in the world do so many people know that I have the Sunny episodes on the site? I mean, I don't really advertise the site. I have people from various parts of the country going to Google, typing in "modenadude" and then jumping quickly to the Sunny page. How on earth do they know? Whichever way, I don't care, it's pretty exciting. Not because I'm technically illegally distributing the show (how is that exciting?), but because more people are getting the chance to watch this amazing show. That really excites me. It's the soul reason I put videos on the site, because some people just don't have the opportunity to catch it live. Thursdays on FX at 10PM. Last night was the season premiere, and if you missed it, boy do I feel bad for you. It got me all energized. Two episodes last night. They'll do this for the first five weeks and then throw an episode a week at us for another five weeks. That's fifteen episodes. How exciting is that? Seven in Season 1, ten in Season 2, and now fifteen in Season 3! Well deserved raise. One of these episodes was on the show's MySpace page a month ago to promote it. I didn't get a chance to watch it. It's on YouTube, but I don't wanna ruin it by watching it on that horrible quality - I love YouTube and everything, but there are somethings not meant to watch on there. Full episodes is one of them. It's supposed to air in three weeks according to Wikipedia though, so no worries.
Anyway, Last night's episodes were great, I thought. Some people disagree, some say that last night's episodes were kind of... different. That they were lacking a certain flavor that the other episodes before them had. I have no idea what those guys are talking about. But what I felt is this, the show is getting a lot better. In Season 1, it didn't really know itself that year. It showed us viewers that it has great characters and they are really funny, but that's it. When Danny showed up in Season 2, I think it made the show a lot better. The second season is where it discovered itself. The characters were stronger and more well developed and the stories did not fail. Now that we're in the third season, I think that the series knows exactly what its about and we have started to grow genuine love for characters. I mean genuine love. Not just, hey, Charlie's pretty funny. But now it's, wow, I love that guy. Now we know him a lot more. Before we might have been loving the idea of loving this new character, but now we genuinely love the guy (not to take away from the other characters of course, but I love Charlie the most). And you know what else I noticed? The feel of the show aesthetically is much better! I think they got better equipment or something went on with FX's systems, cos it looks great. Also, I think I noticed more curse words last night. Are they getting more freedom? Are the sponsors noticing that the show is so hot that they don't care about a couple extra curses here and there? Well either way, all signs point up - this show is looking great. The first episode dealt with the gang finding a baby in a dumpster - the whole episode revolved around dumpsters and the environment; and the second episode dealt with trying to get on the Philadelphia Eagles - the whole episode revolved around football and a tailgate party. And you know, anything that the Sunny folks deals with leads to controversy. No different in these episodes. I preferred... ah hell, I don't know. They were both great. Overall I liked the first better and I loved the second's second half. But you know what, I hope you have your own opinion. If you didn't catch the show last night, then download them here, at the Sunny page. There's a re-run Saturday night at 11 and 11:30 on FX. So you can watch the USC game (I don't know how people are saying they might lose! Are they freaking stupid?) at 5PM on ABC and then wait a few hours for the episodes. And if you haven't seen the show before, you really should. It's a great, great show. Very hilarious, great characters, great stories. I'm almost positive you'll fall in love with it.
Oh, and in case you hadn't noticed. I corrected the PST/PDT marks at the end of the time per post to make more sense - I didn't notice that, I did it rather carelessly in the beginning of the year and did not distinguish the difference between Daylight Time and Standard Time. Since we're in the summer, and Los Angeles is observing Daylight Savings, it's PDT. I'll change the time to PST on November 4th when we go back to Standard Time, Insha Allah. Sound good? I sure do hope so! Take care everyone. see u. |

| Thursday, September 13, 2007 @ 9:20 PM PDT - Video Updates |
|
First fast went pretty well, if you were curious. Fell asleep in the morning after I ate so when I awoke my mouth was pretty dry. And I didn't eat scrambled eggs, unfortunately. My Mom said that when she asked me what I wanted to eat, when I was in my deep sleep, I had refused scrambled eggs. A likely story! But I made it clear that no matter what I say tomorrow morning, that scrambled eggs is what I want - do not take no for an answer.
Anyway, I told you I'd bring you guys a happier post today, and I promised, and I can't break that promise, so here I am. I had planned it anyway. I have a few updates to throw up on the site, some stuff that has been long overdue. The first thing I'll talk about is from Jimmy Kimmel Live! last Friday. If you're an avid watcher of the show, I consider myself one of those folks, then you'll know that Jimmy loves playing with video. Not only does the show love playing with video, it loves its characters. Jimmy has three characters, all security guards. His (real) Uncle Frank, Guillermo, and Veatrice; his cousin Sal pops in from time to time too. They all take part in the show in some way, and on Friday Guillermo, a really great Mexican guy with a thick accent, went on Inside the Actor's Studio to spoof it - James Lipton played along. I found it hilarious, and I doubt it's because I love Guillermo so much - nor because I love Inside the Actor's Studio so much. I think you'll enjoy it to, it's hilarious, so catch it here. Cherish it too because I won't be able to stay up that late for a while I think, don't have the energy. Another video update I wanted to tell you guys about is long, long overdue. You remember God's Warriors? That CNN special that aired almost a month ago? I've had the videos all ready for a few weeks now, about ninety minute each segment, but haven't had the chance to post them, so here they are. I've mimicked a television show format (which by the way I change a little bit for tonight's premiere of Sunny) for it. If you don't know anything about the special, CNN aired it, hosted by Christiane Amanpour who spent the better part of a year with her crew producing three segments of the people who consider themselves the warriors of God. From Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It mostly focused on terrorism for the first Judaism and Islam, and focused on Evangelicals for Christianity, so it didn't do what it said it would, help us understand each religion better - it did in a way, but in a terrorism way. But that's okay as I guess it's somewhat appropriate for our time. Download the specials here. And lastly, the other video update I wanted to discuss is kind of sad. Remember American Body Shop from a month ago? Well it looks like Comedy Central is on the verge of canceling it - it's jumping around time slots, and networks somehow making its way to Comedy Central's sister network, SpikeTV. I thought the show was great, but wasn't really able to watch it because right after it started to air, I ran off to San Francisco. And I haven't been able to watch it ever since. So even though I, and many others, have loved the show, Comedy Central is retiring it, and so am I. The section I had up for the show, the one episode (Pilot episode called "Flammers") that I had up there will remain, but it's now Retired. If you guys come back, I'll definitely add you, and if you come out with a season DVD (doubt it), I'll definitely add you, but right now, I can't. Love the show, but sorry.
So those are the video updates. That's the big part of tonight's post, nothing too fancy. But before I go, I wanted to remind everyone about what's going on tonight! Tonight's the Season Premiere of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - the hilarious show that started more than two years ago. It's in its third season with a huge fan base. For a second, I want to say how it was created. Not like most television shows. There were no big name actors in the beginning, no huge dollars, nothing fancy. Just three guys wanting to start their career, Rob (Mac), Charlie (Charlie), and Glenn (Dennis). Rob created this show about three guys in a pub, FX saw it, loved it, picked it up and gave the three of them four hundred thousand dollars to create a season, which was a lot considering the pilot was created with less than a hundred bucks! Their careers were created overnight. After the first season, it slowly made its way around the world to air in other countries and it was such a hit that FX gave them the greenlight for a second season. They made it seem like it was a brand new show instead of its second year, and Danny DeVito became a regular, a father on the show. The second season was also a huge hit and was naturally renewed for a third season, which is to air tonight (already in some parts of America). It's a great show - many, including me, compare it to Seinfeld. But different. Seinfeld isn't as raunchy as this stuff. Not at all. And because its on Cable, it can get away with a lot more. I remember starting to watch this with Adam along side another series that failed, Starved (I probably even talked about it a few years ago on the site), and now driving down finding billboards and busses sporting Sunny ads, I'm very proud. It's come a long way, and deserves all the attention. It's a greatly hilarious show. Very true to Philadelphia (or so I've heard). Season 1 and 2 DVDs were released last Tuesday and Season 3 starts tonight at 10 PM on FX. Two brand new eps in a row. A lot of shows are doing this now for some reason. They'll air it like this for five weeks and then the other five eps will be shown one a week for another five weeks. So that's Season 3 - ten weeks, fifteen episodes, and I plan to put all of them up happily. But buy the DVDs and support the show. I'm going to go get ready. Until we meet again! Take care. see u. |

Ramadan Mubarak to all the Muslims in the audience tonight! Ramadan 1428, yay! But us Muslims aren't the only ones that have something special connected to this day, oh no. Happy New Year to the Jews in the audience! 5768, yay! But that isn't all guys. We've only covered two of the main monotheistic religions... what about the third? Well Happy September 12th night to you solar-calandar-following Christians! haha. But seriously, it's the eve of the new season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (which I will Insha Allah have up here on Friday), so today is a great, great day. So for all the Muslims out there, according to moonsighting.com (but please check with your local mosque), the vast majority of the world is starting Ramadan tonight making the first fast tomorrow, Insha Allah. But Jews, don't you worry; you guys only have 19 days left until your fast on Yom Kippur! We'll do it together, Insha Allah! You Christians? I don't know, go on a diet on October 1st and 2nd. Oh, and Muslims, don't forget to pray your Taraweeh prayers tonight, as well as wake up in time for Sehri! Remember, ten minutes before the morning prayer of Fajr. I plan to wake up at 4 and eat scrambled eggs. Yum.
I had this post planned and ready since Sunday morning... but I have to work on budgeting my time. I got caught up in football on Sunday and Monday too (some great fun games), plus I had classes all day Tuesday. But don't worry, the post is here! And what is this post about you ask? You are aware you're talking to yourself, right? Well it's about Disneyland, duh! Notice the beautiful castle graphic? Yep, I took that. Handheld too. I'm very surprised with myself too. Last Monday, on Labor Day, Imadul, Carie, Margarita, Robyn, and I went down to Anaheim for our First Annual Disneyland Adventure (an unofficial title that I made up just now, I don't know if there'll be a Second Annual). Labor Day was a great idea, so congrats to the person who thought of that, you're a pure genius. The day went very smoothly, very well. If you exclude the excruciating heat, which has fortunately died down substantially, it was a great day. And it was totally different than Grad Nite. Grad Nite was at night (really?) and the place was full of high school kids. Even though we went with almost the same people we did Grad Nite (Carie wasn't with us Grad Nite, and Robyn was only half the time), it was very different. There's a big difference between having a hundred and fifty kids drive down to Anaheim on a bus in the cold dead of night compared to five kids driving down in a small car with no AC in the hot morning. A big difference between a hundred and forty sleeping kids going back up to the Valley in the morning compared to four wide awake hungry ones during the late hours. The difference between being somewhat forced to go to Disneyland because it's the end of the year compared to choosing on your own to go to Disneyland because you want to keep in contact with those people you accompany. Many people say you lose most of those friends you've created in high school, I don't know if that is true, but I do know that for that Labor Day it was not. And for that, I enjoyed the Disneyland day, even though I would have much rather jumped on the 5 North instead and zoomed into Magic Mountain. Hell yah! I don't know how this paragraph turned from funny to emotional, but I think it turned out nicely, don't you? Check out the photos here! Imadul took his own photos, they were probably ten times better than mine, right, Ima?
Another thing I wanted to quickly touch on is this thing that happened yesterday. You all know what yesterday was right? That's right, TBS is now showing The Office. But besides that, it was the sixth anniversary of 9/11, and I for one have never really been into the whole anniversary of this thing but I am somewhat shocked that I didn't hear anything else about it! Maybe it's just me. Maybe you reading this right now went to a whole 9/11 ceremony, but I didn't hear 9/11 uttered anywhere except for on NPR and one other place that was in a class but it wasn't even in the way I had expected. No offense to the people who were affected by 9/11, but it always got really annoying to hear the anniversary and such. And now that I'm not hearing anything, it's not that I'm missing it, but I'm sad that we as a people got over it so quickly. I'm sure New York had a huge thing for 9/11, but here in LA, I didn't see anything. But then again, maybe that's just me. Maybe I choose not to see what we do for it because I personally was not affected. I hope it's just me, cos it is really sad that things like these would dissolve so quickly. It'll probably come back up on the 10th Anniversary and then die away again, and there'll be a time where we will talk very casually about it, like we talk about Socrates' death (that's the Philosophy class in me talking, haha). But then again, that's a good thing because it isn't right to be stuck in the past about an event that has been forgotten not only by the people, but by their president, who decided that instead of actually trying to stop these attacks from happening again that he would go and attack a neighboring neighboring country for a totally different reason. But who knows, maybe it's just me. haha. Wow, this post has really made some sharp turns, hasn't it?! haha. Sorry about that, and sorry if I offended Bush supporters out there, it's how I, and probably most of the country, feel. But I'll blame it on my exhaustion. I'm tired! I'll bring a happier post tomorrow. Promise. In the mean time, Ramadan Mubarak to the Muslims, Happy New Year to the Jews, and Happy September 12th to the Christians. And to everyone else, thanks for sharing our holidays with us, haha. Oh, and remember, B&H is closed. Take care everyone. see u. |

This weather is something else; just last week I was complaining about how my computer and AC cannot stay on at the same time during the day without blowing out my room. A few hours ago I was driving through the beach near Santa Monica, listening to Mos Def rapping about how we all need to have a place we call home, and I couldn't stop staring at the ocean. The sun was shining brightly over the water and it was reflecting back, but not too bright. Sometimes the sun can blind us drivers, but this wasn't that kind of bright, neither was it hot. It was a beautiful scene. A great breeze on a great highway with the great ocean. It almost made me forget about the light, annoying traffic and the smog nearby, keyword being 'almost' of course. The music playing in the background about the need to have a home, but remembering that the home you have now is just your habitat and not from where you've come, reminded me of an article that Franchise Times (don't worry, I've never heard of them either) had about my cousin this month, he's a celebrity (that's a horrible photo of him)! It was a great feeling driving by this beach, nothing like the past heat waves. But then the song changed and Mos started rapping about racism and how the whites are always after the blacks, That changed the whole scene, haha.
Anyway, the reason I bring up this drive through Santa Monica isn't to show you a picture (which I really regret because it was beautiful), but to talk about this first week of September. Boy has a lot been going on! First of all, for some reason, when the first day of September hit, all my Adobe software stopped functioning, saying that my licenses expired. Not too sure what that was about. I guess it turned out the software I was using to install all of it ( Web Premium, Master Collection wasn't out when I installed it all) stopped working. So what was I to do? Get Master Collection of course. So I put that down to download on the second of the month and the download was just about to finish, probably a few hundred megabytes left, when at around 9:20 PM Sunday night, the power blows. I'm getting up from my computer, and I notice the lights start to flicker. I think, this is what happens in the movies when there's an earthquake... and pop! the whole house goes out. We look outside. The street lights are still on... so I go into the back to check the fuse box, everything's fine. Then we go back in the front yard and notice that our neighbors don't have light either. Turns out, it was just our block. We call up the DWP and they say the blowout is only affecting a few isolated homes scattered through the Valley, as well as a few more on the other side of the hill. You know how long they say it will take to fix? "No idea". They could've told us that no one's coming to fix it until Labor Day's over, but no, they make it seem like they're working on it as we spoke. I know Labor Day is there to honor the working man (which is ironic that we didn't have power the one day a year they stop working), but shouldn't you do what we're honoring you for instead of going to the beach? We should take Labor Day away from you! Those are the lazy bums in the graphic. Anyway, the site was down, because the power was down, until Tuesday at around 11:45 AM. Some of you went crazy calling me up asking me where's the site, haha. I sure was surprised.
Anyway, I was gone all Tuesday and Wednesday in class and got free last night when I made a few updates (the Master Collection finished downloading and I installed it and am so damn happy!) and here's my post. The only real differences between this month and last months's are very small - one is at the bottom of the main Web Log posts, you now have the ability to quickly navigate through different months by clicking 'next month' or 'previous month'. Two, I finally made a page for Other Videos. Before I kind of cheated, I would put up an interview or a segment of some show or a game and link the latest three in the Videos section and that would be it. I've finally organized them a bit and they now have their own pages with the same navigation at the bottom. I plan to add this navigation to the Photography section when I complete different years, Insha Allah. That's basically it.
So thirty-six hours without power. It was hot! I probably only got four hours of sleep over the two days, it was too hot! But, it was worth it cos my room has not popped and my AC is on full blast. It's hot! Screw the DWP, haha. On Monday, we went to Disneyland. Imadul has his photos up (he's so fast!) and I organized mine today, I picked out 232. I'll have them up by the week's end, Insha Allah - but if you wanna see Ima's shots (which are probably better, he's so good!), click here. Otherwise, you'll have to wait a few days for mine. But don't worry, you'll have plenty to do, tonight's the first regular season football game! Saints at Colts. I wonder who I'll be rooting for... hmm.... It's at 5:30 tonight on NBC. I cannot freaking wait. Until next time guys, take care. Go Saints! see u. |
