Thursday, May 24, 2007 @ 3:05 PM PDT - Captain Jack Is Back, Savvy?
Captain Jack SparrowFirst of all, I'm posting for the first time on the first ever Adobe Dreamweaver. Wow, that's strange reading that. Second of all, I'm pretty bummed and angered by Amazon.com/IMDb putting up a huge Spider-Man 3 banner a few days before Pirates 3, it's not like Amazon.com is affiliated with Sony at all! Let's hope they wise up by tomorrow.

Okay, now that I'm done with all that, let's get on to this weekend. This weekend is going to be huge. Big, big weekend coming up. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End comes out, Insha Allah. Now, a few weeks back, a much smaller and less important movie, Spider-Man 3, came out and destroyed all the box office records before it, namely one of most enjoyable movies of 2006, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, by about $15 million. That, you may say, is fair as Pirates 2 slaughtered the reigning leader during its opening, Spider-Man, by almost $20 million (yah, that's right, I didn't even mention Spider-Man 2 because it did horribly its opening weekend)! Now this weekend, Pirates 3 has its chance to fight back, and by the looks of it, it is definitely in the lead. If you go to Box Office Mojo's page of Spider-Man 3, you'll see that it is Number 1 in almost all the categories. Today, however, it dropped to Number 2 in two categories (and by the way, it won't be its last drop), the Widest Release categories. But what movie could possibly be in more theatres than Spider-Man 3? Are you seriously asking that question? Then you're just freaking stupid. Pirates 3 of course! Pirates 3 will be in more theatres this weekend compared to the reigning first place than when Spidey came out three weeks ago - a whopping 4,362! That's a lot of freaking theatres (not screens)! So by that figure alone, Pirates should be making a crap-load of money. But that isn't the only figure that will let Pirates boast its soon to be supremacy. Three weeks ago, that Spidey movie gained almost $60 million opening day. That's Number 1, ever. It received those numbers: one, because of its theatre count and two, because of its midnight releases. Pirates 3 will of course have midnight releases... but it also has something else Spider-Man 3 did not: day-before releases. Even though Pirates officially is released Wide on the 25th (tomorrow), Disney has asked many of its screeners to start showings the day before (tonight) at 8 PM! And that doesn't mean that there's going to be only one extra showing per theatre... many theatres are having four, five, or more screens for the night magnifying Pirates 3's potential to demolish Spidey 3! Another thing that Pirates 3 has that Spidey didn't? A four-day weekend. Monday's a national holiday. This weekend, while many will be mourning for the men and women who have died while serving in military duty, a lot of others will be rushing to the their local theatres to see the crew rescue Captain Jack and fight Davy Jones and his crew. While technically the fourth day is not supposed to be included in the Opening Weekend figures, the holiday figures are always slipped in there with the other Opening Weekend figures magnifying even more Pirates 3's victory over Spidey 3. And the last thing I could come up with as to why Pirates 3 will rule over Spidey 3? The third movie's initials are AWE. Need I say more? It's gonna be one helluva weekend. Get your Pirates gear ready and head on out to the theatres for the last Pirates film! ... or is it...? Comments are still dumb, sorry. I'll make it up, don't worry, Insha Allah. Take care everyone. see u.

Wednesday, May 16, 2007 @ 9:15 PM PDT - New Google Junk
iGoogle - Bus StopWhen I say "Junk", I don't mean some crap you put on your street for the guys to pick up, I mean fun toys. And when I say fun toys, I mean fun. I have to admit, with Google first introduced the personalized page, I found it kind of boring. It was all plain and had no real organization. Then they went ahead and allowed people to make their own gadgets so anyone can use 'em, made it more friendly. Then they went ahead and added the option of moving the sections around, which was really cool and even more friendly. Then they added tabs and such to organize it a bit more... and now they have themes (and I can't say this was all in the right order). And as of the end of April, it is officially iGoogle.

Okay, so I'm a bit late. I came across this today. At first, when I read "iGoogle", I thought it was some kind of Apple partnership and got really annoyed. Then I went into it and realized it is the renamed version of the older "Personalized Home" (the boring one that I spoke about a second ago). What's so great about iGoogle? The interactivity (I assume that's what the "i" stands for). You can add so many gadgets. You can choose from the normal stuff like your Gmail preview, Quote of the Day, Joke of the Day, Movie Times, and the Date/Time/Weather; or you can choose from more funky stuff like the Current Moon Phase, NASA Image of the Day, and Images to Ponder which shows a face wondering things like "If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?" and "What do you plant to grow a seedless watermelon?" Oh, one more, please " If a vampire can't see himself in a mirror, why is his hair always so neat?" haha, that gadget wasted so much of my time. They even have a Pac Man (which is somehow the same one that's on this site, but I stole it, so it's okay). Though, the best thing, I think, about iGoogle is the themes. Right now, there are seven themes. There's "Classic", which, you guessed it, is nothing. Then there's "Beach" which shows a graphical version (all themes are graphical) of the horizon at a beach. Then there's "Bus Stop" (shown) which shows a motley group of people waiting for the bus. "City Scape" is another theme, it shows the skyline of a city, drawn very much like a cartoon. "Sweet Dreams" shows the sky, "Tea House" shows some Asian type of house with a little pond, animals, and nice trees; and "Seasonal Scape" shows a beautiful grassy hill scene with a frog and ladybug playing games. But, they aren't just some graphic that floats on top as a background... they change. That's right. All of 'em but "Bus Stop" change according to what time it is in your city (which you type in after you choose the theme), while "Bus Stop" changes to the weather! It's very awesome. There's oh so much more to this iGoogle thing. So go check it out. The biggest question I have is how they'll change the title "iGoogle" on holidays/events like they've always done to "Google". Too bad I didn't find about this stuff last week or I could've found out for Mother's Day. Oh, and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms reading this. And Happy Birthday, Julian. Comments are still dumb guys. Take care everyone. see u.

Monday, May 14, 2007 @ 5:20 PM PDT - Forza Motorsport 2 Demo
Forza Motorsport 2 Demo - Best Lap TimeYah, I know, it's been a while. The last time I talked to you, Spider-Man 3 was just a few hours away from its midnight releases and its box office explosion (and then a week later, its relative meltdown). It was so long ago, the XBOX still had it's old Dashboard setup (eek!). So long in fact, that the Lakers still had a chance in the Playoffs (okay, that's a lie... I need to get over it). Most importantly though, it was before the Forza Motorsport 2 Demo came out. Well, this past weekend, it hit the Marketplace - two weeks before the official release - I hope everyone 360 user downloaded, it's a hoot! I haven't played as much as many I'm sure, but I've played my share - not enough to get me on the top twenty un-official lap times (I rank somewhere near 25 in some cars). At first I was trying to better my record, but then I got really tired of not getting passed a minute in the A Class, that I decided demolition derby - it's great. I grabbed two clips for you guys - one of my 01:00.340 lap time with a yellow Corvette, and one of a fun little crash sequence (one main one with two different angles and one shorter one which just shows the main crash from another car's point of view... four points of view actually). Check those out here. Oh, and if you click on the image, the clip will open up and stream in a new window, the H.264 version. Very small files, so don't worry.

Now, it's obviously too early to say anything about the game - mostly because it's only in Demo - but it's great. The controls are so awesome and so realistic - so different than the other racing games (but it's something we've gotten used to from Forza 1... but I didn't get to experience its goodness because my XBOX broke back then and I never got to finish it... I'll be okay) out there. The cars are pretty great. The Demo doesn't let us work on them, but I'm sure they've done a great job on that side as well. The one little problem I have is the graphics. Now I'm hoping that's because it's still a Demo, but graphics in HD are pretty, pretty jaggy. You kind of get used to it after a while, but still, didn't you think that was the point all these next-gen games? No jaggies? Now, it could be just my dumb luck. I downloaded NBA 2K7 a while ago and that was jagged the hell up, so who knows. It's a great game and I will definitely buy it when it gets released on the 29th.

In other interests, our HD set turns one today. We bought it last Mother's Day and it has changed our lives. We are watching so much more TV and our brains are being sucked in more and more each day. We love it. Or in the words of a great man, "I want to make a quote. I want to make a good one." Take care everyone. Oh, and comments are still stupid - that's part of the reason I've been neglecting you guys, kind of aggravated with some of the problems with this site... I need to upgrade the server this summer. And I'll try to promise that even though the words are gone, I'll still update every so often. And just keep that quote in mind. It's a nice quote. Oh, and read this, "It's not easier to catch Pokémon by saying 'gotcha' into the DS." see u.

Thursday, May 3, 2007 @ 5:15 PM PDT - Better Luck Next Year
Kenan and KelAlright, so the Lakers lost last night - they did not have a lead all game. They did, however, come back with the help of Odom to being down by 1 in the third, but the Suns pulled away in the fourth and won by 9. So, they're out of the Playoffs. The worst Round 1 loss in Jackson's career - Jackson has broken many records this year, hasn't he? And all of them are not necessarily good - most of them in fact are bad. But now, after all these bad omens, are the Lakers lost forever? Kobe sure doesn't hope so. He voiced his opinion on what must be done this summer, he said very urgently that we need new players, "Do something, and do it now." But where are we going to get players? We don't have enough dough to pick up a free agent, we will be forced to trade. Who's going to go? Surely not Bynum nor Farmar who are both too young and we want to keep them in LA to grow... right? Who knows. Garnett would be great in LA. They probably want him out of Minnesota (not sure if he feels the same), and he'd fit right in with the Lakers.... And how about Jermaine O'Neal? We could give him 34! Kobe and O'Neal part 2! Anyone? But who's going to leave? Surely not Odom. I guess we'll just have to wait.

And quite frankly, due to this big three day gap since their last game, I kind of forgot they were still in it (I'm lying). This great Warrior series has really gotten in my way. I mean wow, who actually thinks that the Mavericks are going to win tonight? Down 3 - 2, yet Warriors could've easily won Tuesday night... they choked at the end. Are they not ready? They're in Oakland tonight, though, and that crowd is amazing. Will someone tell them that there are seats under them? I love it. Tonight's game is going to be off the hook - that Warriors team plays with such heart, they look like kids on a playground - not sucky kids, good kids. It won't even matter if Dirk chokes again, the Mavericks are going down. It's going to be really sad if he wins the MVP, winning the MVP and then losing in the first round to a number 8 seed. Wow. You must really, really suck to suffer that. Every single person on the Warriors team should get the MVP award before Dirk now that we know how he really is, haha (especially Baron Davis, and that has nothing to do with his awesome beard). That game's on TNT at 7:30 PM tonight. It'll be the first time a number 8 has beaten a number 1 in Round 1 in 50 years! Right now is the Rockets at Utah, I want Rockets, but it's been home court wins throughout the series, so we'll see. In other interests, Spider-Man 3 is hitting a record 4,242 theatres this weekend. Spider-Man currently holds the record for second most money opening weekend at $114 million, second only to Pirates 2 at $135 million. Spider-Man had 3,615 theatres first weekend and Pirates 2 had 4,133. So, if things are linear like this, that means Spider-Man 3 should be holding the number 1 record all time. Oh, and Spider-Man 2 got only $88 million with 4,152 theatres - so an obvious drop. So am I going to watch the third? Hell no. I've never seen a Spider-Man, ever, and I am not going to start now, haha.

Alright, before I go, I wanted to put a link up to the Kenan and Kel page, I just updated two new episodes, working on the last three of the Season 1, should be up before this weekend, Insha Allah. So here's its page. The two episodes are 9 and 10, one about an accidental phone call, and one about Christmas. Oh, and speaking of which, there's this crazy St. Louis guy downloading all the Sunny eps - so hello crazy St. Louis guy! Don't be a stranger. Comments are still whack. School play, Anything Goes, is taking place 'til Sunday. Take care everyone. Go Warriors! see u.

Wednesday, May 2, 2007 @ 5:40 PM PDT - A Must-Win Night in Phoenix
Kobe is awesome!First of all, that picture from the left is pretty old. How can you tell? Two main ways - one, Tim Thomas is standing to Kobe's right. Two, Kobe's still 8. That image is taken from Game 5 of last year's Round 2 matchup, the Suns and Lakers. About two minutes went by in the second, in a game where if the Lakers won, they would be going on to the second round to play the Clippers, as the Clippers had just won against the Nuggets the night before. This dunk was awesome. Kobe ran up the floor, sweet screen by Walton, Kobe dodges Bell (you can see Bell's feet on the upper left, and hardly visible on the right of the photo is Nash) and goes in for this awesome dunk. Led to a 32 - 31 lead for the Lakers, first lead of the game. Though, sadly, we all know how it ended, a loss by 17. After that, the Suns went on to win two more, being among the very few to come back after being down 3 - 1. What else happened in this Game 5 exactly one year ago today? The Bell clothesline. Yep. Because Raja "wasn't hugged enough as a kid." says Kobe. Yes, that was one year ago today. And we all know what happened after that clothesline (you know, after Kobe walked off wagging his finger with a smile on his face and after Bell got ejected and after Kobe missed that free throw), Kobe sank a long three. But, again, they lost that game. So, here we are again, one year later... but instead, we're the ones down 3 - 1. Phoenix has the odds in favor of them. Like them last year, does that mean we'll have the power to come back from being down 3 - 1? Who knows, I really do hope we can though. Game 3 definitely showed we could. If we attack Phoenix where we know those guys can be attacked (mainly getting them in foul trouble, having great defense, and getting points in the paint), we can definitely go on and make it into Round 2 (to face either the Spurs or Nuggets, who are playing right now, by the way, on TNT - let's hope for a 'Melo Sux' Part 2?). But it hasn't happened yet. So tonight's the night; wherever you are, turn on TNT at around 7:40 PM PDT and stay tuned for an amazing game. Oh, here's the box score for last year's game 5 and here's a post from me last year with some videos of Round 1;, and comments are still a little dumb right now guys, sorry. Take care everyone. Go Lakers! see u.
