Monday, March 26, 2007 @ 11:55 PM PDT - Hassan Butt's on 60 Minutes
60 Minutes - Hassan ButtVery often 60 Minutes manages to come up with great and controversial topics to talk about on its weekly show, most of the time the timing is impeccable, but other times, well, other times the timing is just random. Last night's episode was just like that. Bob Simon interviewed this ex-radical Muslim named Hassan Butt; don't let the name fool you, he's a really smart, good guy. In the interview, Hassan Butt speaks about how he and his other British Radical Muslim brothers were tied to Al-Qaeda and what they actually did in Britain. He explains that he personally recruited seventy-five people to be sent to Pakistan for training against the West, people as young as seventeen; there were thousands of other recruitees other than his own. He explains why he and the others did what they did and why they never thought twice, because they were convinced that what they were doing is what was right and is what God wanted. And most importantly, he explains how he came to the realization that it was wrong and what he is doing now to help others come to the same realization and understand why it is wrong - the London suicide bombings were his wake-up call. In the interview, Hassan beautifully puts his feelings on terrorism in Islam, he says that people are in denial if they feel that Islam has no connections with violence and he calls killing for the purpose of killing a Cancer that is affecting many Muslims around the world and it must be stopped. Hassan is currently in the process of writing a book, and when it Insha Allah comes out, I will be sure to let you guys know. Every weekend, my Dad and I sit down and watch 60 Minutes, assuming it covers a good topic. Now, my Dad and I don't exactly see eye-to-eye on many things, but we both feel that this topic is very important, at least for us. His points are very good and I am looking forward to his book... but how sincere is he? I trust him wholeheartedly, but my Dad had a slightly different take on it. Perhaps it's an act of some kind causing others to see him as an innocent man when it is quite the opposite, but let's not become too pessimistic. And of course, I uploaded this interview so if you want to catch it, go here - it's great for everyone. So enjoy this download.

Now for the words, I really hope you guys are getting this at home... won't tell you why, haha. So, like always, get them here, or here:

Sunday, March 18, 2007 @ 11:55 PM PDT - Video Updates and Week 25's Words
Sit Down Comedy with David Steinberg - Jerry SeinfeldI have a feeling that there's going to be a vocabulary quiz tomorrow, as tomorrow we are to attend all periods. And if there isn't, just be happy that I put up the words a day earlier than normal. On Thursday, I came to realize that the .docs weren't working! So I figured out why and it was because I am now using Office 2007 rather than 2003. I saved them in the 2007 format (yet checked the compatibility box that supposedly doesn't work), therefore the people without 2007 were not able to use it. So I have now saved them in the 1997 - 2003 format so that everyone can open it, if you have 2007 too. But remember, they're always available in the .pdf format, which always works. I went back and updated Weeks 23 and 24 in case you want to go back to that later in the year. Let's get the links out of the way, get the words here, or here:

Now that that's done, let me try to recover from my computer absence in February. As some of you may know, my computer died and went on to a new place last month, well actually, it's in parts on my bedroom floor waiting to be eBayed in the coming weeks (I'll post up the links here if anyone is interested in bidding). February had the shortest amount of posts, due to the lack of a computer. Yet, I still managed to capture some videos and today I finally got around to putting them together and adding them to the site. So here goes. First up is a freakishly old episode of The Daily Show which features Jerry Seinfeld - it aired in November and for some reason I lost it and recovered it last week. He's promoting his new movie, Bee Movie. Really funny stuff, so go here if you wanna watch it. Next is the notorious Barkley vs. Bavetta race that took place in Vegas during the NBA All-Star Weekend on February the 17th; I won't tell you who won, or which two people kissed. All great fun, go here if you wanna catch that. Next is a 60 Minutes special about Autism that aired the very next day. Autism is pretty rough for a lot of people as it affects so many around the world; 60 Minutes' Lesley Stahl delves into Autism to give us some very informative information. Great stuff for anyone interested, go here to get it. Next is the graphic, another Jerry Seinfeld episode, but aired on February 21 and is a different show. David Steinberg, a comedian, actor, and director (of Seinfeld, Friends, and Curb Your Enthusiasm) hosts this interview show where he gets to sit down and talk with great comedians. This time, it's Jerry. A great watch for all Seinfeld fans, get it here. Last, and quite possibly the least, is the Axis of Evil Comedy Tour that was on Comedy Central last weekend. Now I personally only found probably ten to fifteen percent of this stuff funny (maybe more, but not more than twenty-five percent), but I decided that there are people out there that would find this stuff funny, and I guess I should be promoting this stuff, not because I'm Arab, because I'm not, I'm Pakistani; but because I'm pretty close to the Arabs. So even though it's not extremely hilarious, it is quite funny at times, in my opinion, so catch it here.

Alright, so that's it. I'm done catching up. Well not really, I still want to work on that photography section; I plan to Insha Allah have up the new computer photographs by the end of the month. Oh, and keep an eye out for the new South Park this weekend. And the Lakers. Kobe's been doing fantastically lately, there isn't a game until Thursday, but keep your eye out for that too. Oh, and movies too. March has a ton of awesome movies. The Namesake, I Think I Love My Wife, Reign Over Me, Colour Me Kubrick, The Lookout, and Premonition; none of which I have seen by the way. And I'm totally kidding about that last one. Alright, that's all. Take care everyone. see u.

Monday, March 12, 2007 @ 8:55 PM PDT - Week 24's Words
Kenan and KelOkay, before I get to the words, I want to post a link to my Kenan and Kel page as I added a few more episodes from the first season. I now have the first eight. There are three flavors to choose from, but the H.264 is not up yet as QuickTime is being a little stupid to me. And even though H.264 is not up, it's the best quality of the three so I think it's worth the wait. So episodes 4 - 8 feature some classics, including the one where Kenan develops a cold medicine and the episode where they think Kenan's dad is a jewel thief. Definitely great episodes. I plan to add the whole series in due course - sorry for the wait. I don't have much time tonight or else I would put up two other things, the Axis of Evil comedy show from Sunday night on Comedy Central (which wasn't that great, but I figured at least some people would like it cos it had its good parts) and a little part from PTI where the guys interview long-time Syracuse coach, Jim Boeheim on him and his team not getting into the NCAA Tournament (which I'm bummed out about... they really deserved to make it...). But that's all tomorrow as today is Kenan and Kel and words, so go to their page here. Now, like always, get them here, or here:

They've been up for a while, but I decided to link them for easier access. That's all for now everyone, sorry for the quick post. Take care though. Oh, and Happy late Birthday to Adam and Anton. see u.

Wednesday, March 7, 2007 @ 9:15 PM PST - March 2007, Finally
With Apologies to Jesse JacksonWhere the hell have you been? I can not believe you. I've been sitting here, waiting, for almost a month. Don't do that ever again.

That's your line. So, I've been gone. Why? Well, about a week before my birthday, just around the time of the last post in February, my computer finally got to me. Not the server, the local machine. It has been being kind of stupid for a month before it finally died and I was kind of ignoring it because I didn't have the time to actually sit down and figure it out. About a week before my birthday, FTP just stopped working. I was unable to install any software. I was unable to capture anything. It was pretty much dead. So, after a weekend where I tried my best to revive it, I decided that the best thing to do would be to just sell the parts on eBay and use it as an opportunity to upgrade to new technology. So, I did. I was without a computer for basically a week, but it was well worth the wait cos now I have this awesome new system, which is partly why I'm getting the new episode of South Park up so fast. I don't want to sit down and tell you about my new system now, why? One, because I want you guys to understand that in no way am I bragging or anything. Two (and most of you will like two, I'm sure), I'm re-coding the photography section. What the hell does that have to do with the new setup? Because one of the new 'albums' (one of the new words) will feature the new setup. But I guess I can give you guys a little sneak peek at the setup - I combined two gifts, one from my parents, and one to myself. I'm running on a 24" Dell monitor, on an Antec case, with an Asus board and Intel Core 2 Duo processor, with an ATI X1600 XT video card and Seagate Barracuda 3.0 Gbps SATA II which has Vista Ultimate installed. That was a mouth full and sure made me get tingles. And trust me, it was a long, I repeat long, over due upgrade. And don't worry, I saved 50% - anyone who knows me well enough knows that I am one of the stingiest.

Now before I show you guys to the South Park page, I want to briefly say something about this whole downloading thing; it's a new season of one of the shows I have on this site and I just want to say this for the record, and it probably isn't the first time, nor the last, that I am saying this. Every video that I put on this website, I put on to send homage to the creators. In no way am I trying to steal their creations and post in on this website for benefit financially nor otherwise. I am merely providing them as a public service so that if a person misses an episode that won't air again until next week, next year, or ever again, they will have the ability to download it here where the only price they'll pay is their time, as this server is slower than others (I host it on my own). I believe that if we pay for the Internet and all the other things that are linked with the Internet, then we are paying for everything, I see no need to pay extra for something that we have the ability to, and want to, watch for free on TV - but the problem with that idea is that it isn't readily available. And that's why I post videos here. I don't have any banner ads nor do people pay me to use my server, I gain no money from this site. I, and everyone who uses this site, admire the creators of these television shows, and will continue to do so - so don't sue me. Deal? Alright, now that that's over, on to the episode. It wasn't the best South Park episode in my opinion. There were some humorous parts - the idea of the episode was okay, like the beginning was pretty good, but the rest wasn't that great. Stan said what I felt, "I don't get it", why would this be a season opener? Perhaps to make up for lost time. For those of you guys that have yet to see it, Trey and Matt make fun of the whole 'nigger' (that's enough distance) fiasco with Michael Richards. I never touched that Michael Richards story when it happened, maybe because I am a huge fan of Seinfeld, and I won't now cos it's pretty old, haha. So the episode wasn't that great, but don't take my word for it (I share a birthday with LeVar Burton). Go here for the episode in all three flavors, DivX, H.264, and WMV9. That's all for tonight. But before I go, I wanted to mention Stanley Kubrick. He died eight years ago today. He's great, if you don't know who he is (where the hell were you last year?) then catch some of his movies. Oh, and Syracuse's in the second round of the Big East Tournament, playing Notre Dame tomorrow, Insha Allah, on ESPN (available in HD for the cool ones) at 11AM (Pacific). Oh, talking about time, one last thing, promise. This Sunday morning, we're supposed to change the time forward and hour, for those that take part in the ritual. It's a government mandate to change it earlier this year (and later, when it ends) to save power, so don't forget! Your computers (excluding Vista natively) and gadgets might, but you don't! Alright, take care everyone.
