LA is something crazy, last week was that 5/14 accident, this week it's all about fires (and that Santa Clarita area got its fires too!). I had to take a different route to class today because of the fires, and it was jammed - but at least I got to class on time. And LA isn't the only place with its fires, all over Southern California. I hope you guys aren't affected by it.
I would've written this post on Saturday, but I had a midterm paper to write and then after I wrote it I took a nap, haha. I basically slept through most of the
USC/
Notre Dame game (good thing too cos it was sucking; luck of the Irish? More like suck of the Irish. haha, sorry), but I somehow was awake for pretty much all the touchdowns (USC was the only side to score). College football sucks nowadays. Even
NBC thought so, they kept bringing back the "
Bush Push" clip from two years ago (I'm not complaining)- USC just isn't the same since those guys left. No matter, we only have to wait until Sunday instead to watch them now. Except for
Leinart of course, cos he's out for the season (which I'm bummed about, but I think it'll be good for the guy). They don't like
Jarrett too much in North Carolina, and we got to see
LenDale and
Bush a few weeks ago on Monday night, as well as
Tatupu and Bush last Sunday. That's pretty much it from those
recently great USC years, right? And obviously, the only one who really matters from those guys is Reggie Bush. Los Angeles didn't broadcast the
Falcon/
Saints game yesterday morning, but what I do when that happens is read it, on
ESPN.com. It's so much more suspenseful reading it because the only thing you base your thoughts on are what this computer has in front of you, and it's not exactly real-time, so it's intense!
Fox is great because what they do sometimes is if the broadcasted game finishes early (or if it's a blowout like the
49ers and
Giants), they switch to another game (which is only good sometimes. There was an
Eagle/Saints game last year that they stopped because the Saints were whooping and I was pissed). They did this two weeks ago with the
Panthers, but yesterday they wanted us to watch the
Cardinals and
Redskins. That ending was pretty good too, but I'd much rather have watched the Saints at home. I love the
Superdome, the lights are so shiny, makes rings on their helmets, haha. Anyway, the Saints didn't have that great of a game, but that was okay because the Falcons didn't either. Bush seemed to be pretty good in the red zone, he even sumo wrestled his way in for a touchdown! That was fun to read. In the end, the Saints ended up winning and now they, oh my goodness, have a win streak! Who would've thought, right?
So at the end of the week, the
NFC South is just like I said it would be, not to boast or anything, but I called it perfectly - Falcons lost to the Saints,
Bucs lost to the
Lions, Panthers in their Bye (that was a hard one to call, I gotta admit). Next week the Panthers welcome the undefeated
Colts, the Bucs welcome the Colts' rivals tonight, the
Jags, the Saints venture to San Francisco to take on the 9ers, and the Falcons are in their Bye (who cares about them anyway, they're only going to have probably 3 wins the whole season). Fox is going to air the Saint/49ers game at 1 PM in LA, so watch it. If you don't remember what I called, I said Panthers are losing to the Colts (that's a stretch), Bucs will lose to the Jags, and the Saints will beat the 9ers, making it 4 - 3, 4 - 4, 3 - 4, and 1 - 6, respectively, in the NFC South, but remember that I'm biased. Oh, and before I proceed to another point of interest,
Louisiana has
a new governor in January (after losing four years ago, he won this time around), he's Indian. Not "How" Indian but "Namaste" Indian, but he's Catholic, converted as a teen - stupid America taking away people's heritage, haha.
I'm sure you noticed I haven't spoke a word about
South Park, or
Pushing Daisies, or
Sunny in over a week! Well, I'm making it up to you by giving you not only the latest episodes of South Park and Sunny (which have been since Thursday and Friday), but also two other videos!
Seinfeld was on
Leno Friday morning (get that
here), and
James Lipton was on
Conan a few minutes later (get that
here)! Sunny was okay, it was basically a re-run, it's the serial killer episode that was on the Internet before the season started for promotion. I didn't like it that much, but I understand why others would - if you missed it, download it
here. Pushing Daisies was great, yet again - this time they had a little fun with some of the characters' traits and they introduce a new character, someone who is (seemingly) interested in Olive when she is not even paying attention because she finds out that Chuck is the person who died a few weeks ago. The episode gets pretty heavy, it's based around the guy who died in episode 2 at the funeral home, and the near ending of the episode is pretty intense, intense action sequence. And the ending is just adorable, yet again. This show never ceases to please.
South Park was kind of strange. It's going to be a three-part episode (because they seemingly imitate
Star Wars' style of writing in the beginning and add the words trilogy) - the beginning of the episode was pretty funny, the previews made it seem hilarious, but I lost interest throughout kind of. It starts out with the boys trying to look for this leprechaun that Cartman claims he saw a few times, and the boys are basically in a stake out in the forest. Kyle doesn't believe him so he bets Cartman ten bucks that there is no Leprechaun, but Cartman, being the silly fat little boy we all love, said that if there was a leprechaun, Kyle had to suck his balls. Vintage Cartman. Well they end up finding the leprechaun, and they capture him, and because of this, the leprechaun is unable to deliver a message on time to Imaginationland that there's going to be a terrorist attack. Well, that's where it gets kind of stupid. Cartman is in pursuit of getting his balls in Kyle's mouth while at the same time the boys all go to Imaginationland where Butters gets held hostage after the Muslim terrorists start to attack. The government gets involved and looks to
M. Night Shyamalan and
Michael Bay to help them out (who both are freaking hilarious); after their advice suck,
Mel Gibson, of all people, helps them out with his amazing story structure. The government decides that they need to find Stan and Kyle as they are Butters' friends (the terrorists send a video and Butters is the only person in Imaginationland who does not fit, everyone else is characters from our imagination), and are the only people who could be able to help. The end of the episode has Cartman in some big rig driving cross country, after getting picked up, in pursuit of Kyle and his mouth - with some payback-style music in the background, that was hilarious. The episode is pretty funny, and it has it's real great parts, like the big rig I just spoke of, and when the terrorists first attack Imaginationland, everything turns into a war movie/game where things are slow and only slightly audible. That was great. The only reason I wasn't too hot about this episode was because I didn't really see the point. In the past they've had continuation episodes and controversial ones, but those all had reasons. This one doesn't really make any sense, why are they doing it? I'm not saying that South Park is losing its touch, after 160 episodes at 11 seasons, okay, fine, maybe I am a little - but let's home
Matt and
Trey make these episodes worth it within two weeks. If you missed the episode, download it
here.
Lakers lost to the
Clippers last night, only because it's preseason and
Kobe didn't play all that much because
Phil and the gang need to figure out who they're going to keep. The more preseason games there are, the more I'm liking the other Kobe,
Coby Karl. I really like that kid. But he keeps choking up! He's really great, I hope he stays, but he's messing up too much. They say he'll be playing a lot in the last three games (tomorrow night, Thursday, and Friday) of the preseason, let's hope he does some stuff for the Lakers so he stays. The only other kid that's getting game time is the draft pick
Crittenton (who looks okay).
Bynum looks really, really great, and so does
Turiaf. Both have their hiccups, but what can you do.
Cook is also doing surprisingly well. I've never really liked him too much.
Kwame also seems pretty different, he started last night - I wasn't too thrilled about that.
Mihm also looks okay, definitely helps, but for the center position, I like Bynum the best. He's a lot leaner than he was last year, leaner but stronger. He really takes control in the paint - most of the time.
Fish is and
Walton are doing their jobs, nothing too fancy, but it's good to have Fish back, and
Farmar is looking really great too. When Kobe's out, Farmar better be in, he's doing great. And it looks like
Rad and
Sasha have traded hairstyles over the year, am I right? But back to the Coby Karl. I'm really liking this kid. Maybe because he reminds me of a friend I had growing up, Ryan Clark (hello there Ryan if you end up on this page), real white and pail with brown hair. Coby Karl always looks like he's on the verge of tears, but he can sink that three. Had Cancer twice, Coby Karl did. For his most recent surgery to remove the cancer cells, his pops,
George Karl of the
Nuggets, was at his side - he ended up not going to the Laker game that
Imadul, Carie, and I went to April 3rd against the Nuggets, so it's all pretty connected (but isn't everything?). Anyway, I really like this Coby Karl kid, and I'm sure you would to. I really do hope they keep him on the team.
Alright, that's pretty much all I have for you guys, it's another long post, I know - I don't know where I've been getting all these words from. I think it's cos I go a week without posting and then I just vomit out all the stuff I meant to say through the week. But I get weary of updating just a single paragraph because I feel I'm not producing enough info haha. But don't work, I'll try to figure out a solution to this soon, perhaps make the font smaller or something. The only thing left I have to say is that the Colts are in Jacksonville tonight to play the Jaguars, that'll probably be a great, fun game. I'll be watching the Jags because the Saints play them in two weeks - and I just love the Colts. Screw the
Pats, the Colts are awesome, haha. Oh, and I have class Tuesday nights so I can't watch it, but I go onto
ABC.com and catch the
Cavemen and
Carpoolers episodes, I've grown to love those two shows - and I recommend catching them yourself, but ABC.com unfortunately dumps episodes from more than two weeks ago, ah well. They're really great shows though, I like Carpoolers more though. I look forward to that one a lot. I bet you'll love it too. And "
Great Scott!", it's
Chris Lloyd's birthday today, he turns 69, Happy Birthday,
Doc! And I won't be able to talk about it tomorrow, but I plan to Wednesday,
Warner Bros. is releasing
a box set of 10 DVDs, 5 special edition
Kubrick films,
2001,
Clockwork,
The Shining,
Full Metal Jacket,
Eyes Wide Shut, and the documentary
A Life in Pictures. All are two-disc special editions except for the documentary and Fully Metal Jacket, so that's 10. I naturally bought it and will hopefully be getting it soon, and it releases tomorrow. After I get it, I'll be more than happy to run down the differences between the originals and these new guys. The box set isn't in
HD DVD nor
Blu-ray Disc, but you can buy the movies individually in the Hi-Def formats. I personally have not bought into the war yet, so I'll get 'em later. So keep your eyes peeled for that post. I'm going to wear my Kubrick shirt tomorrow in honor of it, haha. Alright, that's all. Oh, and HAPPY INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY. Until next time (with less words), take care. see u.
