Two Year Anniversary
Sunday, August 13, 2006
9:50 PM - August 13, 2004 wasn't only Alfred Hitchcock's 105th birthday, it was also the day that I recieved my permit to drive... Friday the thirteenth. I remember the day, I was still not legally of age to get my permit, but as the DMV would be closed Monday, my birthday, they allowed me to get an early permit. I remember showing up to the DMV and being told that our appointment was never scheduled, but as there was no one there, ironically, they would let me get my permit that day. Another ironic thing about this was that we chose that specific DMV in Van Nuys because they were the only people to give us an appointment on such short notice, because I wait until the last minute for everything. So we fill out the paper work, get a photograph taken of me, and take that easy written test; and then I was legally allowed to drive. We step outside and get into our Odyssey, which is not my car, I had my car sitting at home in our drive way, a car that I bought a month and a day before, my Honda Civic Hatch; usually people don't buy cars that they can't buy.... As we leave the parking lot of the DMV, we pass over railroad tracks - my very first railroad tracks, and with in sixty seconds of getting my permit to drive legally. What happens? The gates start to come down as I approach it, when I am within five or ten feet of it, well there was no way I was going to slam my breaks, I just kept on driving. And that is pretty much my memory of my Permit day, two years ago.

Now what does that graphic to the left have to do with my Permit day? Absolutely nothing. There's this movie coming out, Snakes on a Plane, probably the dumbest movie ever. The first time I saw an ad for this movie, I couldn't help but laugh out loud and wonder what the hell this world is coming to that people would actually find it entertaining to watch a movie about poisonous snakes on a damn plane... but the more ads that came on TV... the more I was intrigued. I later found out Kenan Thompson was in this movie, Kenan Thompson is a person who we, or at least I, grew up watching, in All That and Kenan and Kel (both of whose theme songs are rushing through my head right now... ahh). He has been seen lately in movies and TV, most notably Saturday Night Live and his long time buddy, and ours too, Kel Mitchell, has been seen in TV commercials for companies like Pepsi and Kentucky Fried Chicken. But that alone did not get me to look out for the commercials on TV. One day, I heard a bunch of scratching, like a record scratching, on TV to Samuel L. Jackson's voice; it was an ad for his latest movie, Snakes on a Plane. I decided to watch it. I sat through about twenty five seconds of a a fun little soundtrack with a bunch of snakes dropping on people, gun shots opening up a side of the plane with people flying out of it , and flame throwers going... all in a plane... and that's when I saw feet. These weren't just any old grandma looking feet, these were feet of a light brown girl, which were right behind her pink sandals. It was a shot from under a bunch of seats, and a lime green snake is seen in the foreground... it strikes, the feet lift to this mid body shot where the feet go under her legs, and then the face is shown. This girl, reading a magazine and listening to music, looking to the side with this expression on her face of interest; my mouth opened wide in awe, how beautiful was this girl! This image became fixated in my head. After the commercial ended, I wondered if I saw her somewhere before, and I replayed the commercial in my head, over and over. But that's as far as I took it, remembering the image in my head. A couple days passed, and I heard Sam's voice on the TV, I quickly jumped up to look at it, waiting for the girl in the last five seconds... she never came. I then decided to take some action and look this girl up on IMDb - I also found the trailer on YouTube. So I headed over there hoping that she would somehow show up, usually if I would look someone up on IMDb I knew nothing about, it would be hard because all I would see of the crew of a film is names... but recently they added this little feature of a photo next to the cast's name if one was ever made - until today I found this very annoying. Unfortunately, the pictures of the cast resembled nothing like the girl I was looking for. I came across this one title, "iPod Girl" - I thought, was this girl of my dreams listening to an iPod in the teaser? And if so, does that mean that judging by this title she's a small character? I clicked the name, Agam Darshi, was it her? The photo was similar to the girl, but was it her? I scrolled down to the message board, "Beautiful Actress" "She has pretty feet!". I found her. Agam Darshi. Originally Agamdeep Darshi. Parents from India, born in the UK, lived in many places, but is now settled in Vancouver. Actor, Writer, Producer, Graphic Designer... need I say more? Yet, how old is she? Don't know. haha. Check out her site - AgamProductions. Her web design company, Jolie-Laide Designs, made it... I find it highly amusing that she has her contact info on her site for a quote... haha. Alright I'm done. All I have to say is that I'm going to look out for Agam Darshi in film and television, Insha Allah.

That's all I have to say - Oh. Tonight on 60 Minutes, the one and only Stephen Colbert was interviewed, I captured it, and it is encoding now, but I won't be able to share it with you guys, Insha Allah, until Wednesday as I'm going out of town Monday and Tuesday. So take care everyone. see u.
