Wednesday, March 29, 2006 - Smug Alert!
9:35 PM - And another great episode of South Park. Tonight's episode was pretty much based around hybrid vehicles (mainly the Prius and Insight by Toyota and Honda, respectively). Mr. Broflovski decides that it is time for him to start driving a hybrid car, but in doing so, he becomes smug. You see, hybrid cars are very good for the environment as they lessen the amount of pollutants that enter our atmosphere; but because the cars can do this, the owners feel that they are superior to anyone else, creating "smug" to escape into the air causing "global laming" (genius!).

After Mr. Broflovski becomes fed up with his friends in South Park, he decides to move the whole family to the more progressive city of San Francisco. There, they will be able to live in peace with their hybrid cars and their cheese and wine restaurants at every corner. I myself really enjoy going to Downtown San Francisco, yet I was not very much offended as this episode is hilarious in the way it portrays the adults as fart consuming citizens hoping to keep the o-zone layer from absorbing their methane (and cos they just like it), and their children who are forced to take drugs just to cope with their parents' idiocies. Yet Kyle's friends cannot cope with his absence, so they plot to bring him back, and the episode grows from there.

Something I noticed in tonight's episode, which is quite genius, if I may add, is the intro's change. Usually when we see the whole town of South Park together, Chef is in the front right of the crowd, yet tonight... we are accompanied another figure... Darth Chef. Here's a shot of Episode 1's intro, and here's a shot of Episode 2's intro, more genius!

Now, the same as last week, I don't have all the versions up yet. the DivX version should be up a little after 10:00 PM, followed by the WMV9 and H.264 versions in the morning, Insha Allah. Click here to visit the South Park Season 10 page to check if the version you want is up yet. I owe you guys a review (damn), haha, and I'll hope to have it up Friday night, followed by a new layout Saturday morning, Insha Allah. Until then guys, have fun. see u.
Monday, March 27, 2006 - Week 26's Words

8:55 PM - I've been getting a couple complaints that I wait to the last second to put these up, so I'm going to try my best to get them up a bit earlier for next week, Insha Allah, as to appease the critics, and there's a lot, I'm sometimes amazed by how many people use these words. Well anyway, they're up, I don't have really much to say except I gotta do a review for Paths of Glory, as well as design a layout for next month, but that's not important to the reader, as the readers shouldn't be aware of the little elves that work here. And also, I have another TV show I'm going to add to this site, I'm not going to tell until I'm completely finished, and don't ask Adam, cos he knows, but I doubt anyone gossips about this site anyway, haha. So enjoy these words; get them here or:

Wednesday, March 22, 2006 - The Return of Chef!
9:55 PM - South Park is back dudes. It was a great episode, The Return of Chef! . Let's break it down. I'm sure most of you have heard about Isaac Hayes quitting due to that Scientology episode last season, not sure if it was his decision or the Church's, but he called it quits. As a lot more of you should know, Isaac Hayes plays Chef on South Park, the lovable, big, black mentor to the kids, and is the chef at their school.

Well now that he quit, Matt and Trey had to, obviously, come up with a way to deal with it on the show, and they came up with a wonderful plan (which I called by the way, haha). Since Hayes didn't record any audio for this episode, as he quit, they used audio clips from previous episodes as voiceover (which I half called) and followed him as he became part of a club that molests children around the world, alluding to the Church of Scientology. Parts of the episode run almost parallel with the Scientology episode, and the ending is probably the best, true South Park. So if you know what's good for you, you'll download the new episode from this site, and catch next week's at 10:00 PM on Comedy Central (iTunes carries it too by the way). Click here to go to the Season 10 South Park page.

Oh, and if you guys were wondering how the hell I am posting this before it shows in Los Angeles, I have the Eastern Comedy Central on my parents' dish. Not everything is up right now, in fact nothing is right now, but I'll be adding as the night grows shorter, and by tomorrow, Insha Allah, all three flavors should be up (and I'm sorry but the first three seconds of the intro is cut off... haha, and I was also going to cut off the credits cos it said Carlos Mencia was on next, and I hate him real bad, but I decided to keep it for the credits). Have fun guys, Happy South Park day, and Happy early Birthday to Katherine. Take care. see u.
Sunday, March 19, 2006 - Week 25's Words

3:45 PM - I really shouldn't even be writing this right now, as I had to get out of the house on my way to Lakewood by 3:30PM (my *niece*'s birthday party), but we're running late. Tomorrow is the vocab quiz, and I wonder if anyone else was worried about the audience turning on me other than Sonia, haha. Well I put them up early; don't worry, they aren't in Roman Numerals anymore. So enjoy, get them below or here.

Saturday, March 18, 2006 - Kirk Douglas Day
4:25 PM - I know! It's been so long. I've been up to a lot actually. The main thing, and the reason I'm updating today, is of Wednesday, March 15, 2006, I have freaking like seventy photos and nineteen video clips. As most of you probably already know, Kirk Douglas dropped by to our school that day, a day that we will all probably remember for a long time, and no, I didn't get to wear my Stanley Kubrick shirt - but no worries. Why did he come? Well, you see, he and his wife have a foundation in which they give LAUSD schools grants to build new playgrounds for the kids, and since I go to a fourth to twelfth grade school, we automatically qualified. The process of building started earlier this year (school year that is) and cost about $40,000 - and on Wednesday, it was officially opened when Kirk cut the ribbon.

Pause for a moment and look at the top right of this layout, do you see that man? That is Kirk Douglas, well it is if you're reading this in the month of March 2006. A very big coincidence, I think - I had no idea he was coming until a week or two ago, and was utterly excited when hearing about it. He's been in many movies as we all know, including, obviously, Paths of Glory, the movie of the month. But instead of basking in Kirk's filmography, I'd rather discuss the event.

Monday, March 13, 2006 - Week XXIV's Words

10:30 PM - You know, I've noticed, I haven't once posted on a weekend all month, granted there have only been four of them, but I still haven't. It is like once Friday hits, I go off onto some vacation and ne'er return until I develop the early case of the Mondays. Well, I'm back, a bit late. It's a bit sad that I get the most hits on Mondays because people want the words, but it's also great because I have something I'm known for. The other day (last week, actually) Parker looks over at Aaron's paper while studying for these weekly tests and finally understands that the reason a bunch of people have the same definition format is because they all get it from my site, and I guess that's something to be glad about. To thank Parker, I will refer to Week 24 as Week XXIV, due to his Roman Numeral fixation. And to thank all of you, I am putting up the words rather late, haha - sorry. They're here and here:

Good luck on the test guys, It's all "No" except for six and twelve. Happy early Birthday Einstein. see u.
Thursday, March 9, 2006 - Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5
10:15 PM - Wow, two posts in two days in a row... that's unheard of! Guess who came at dinner? No, not Sidney Poitier... haha... my lens. The wonderful Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5. It totally replaces my kit lens, by a millimeter in the wide angle and 15 in the telephoto; as well as a wider aperture. The lens is about three and a half inches long at 17mm and a little passed five inches at 70mm, and is only a bit heavier than the kit lens, but feels very comfortable. The lens has a filter of 72mm, which is freaking huge compared to the kit, but the huge front brings it the attention from others that it deserves.

I wasn't able to take very many photos, as I only got to play with it after dark - so this weekend is when I'll whip it out and take some test shots. But from what I have taken today, it is quite amazing. Not only is it a great walk around lens, but it also doubles as a great macro lens. I was able to get really close to my subjects; the only thing that kept me a few inches back was the shadow cast by the lens, haha. With the lens, you should be able to get eight inches at wide and [I got] about two to three inches at telephoto. To have a 17mm that touches f/2.8 and a 70mm that touches at f/4.5, and macro at all ends, is quite amazing, even if you'll only use the macro at the telephoto end of the lens.

Not only did I buy the lens, but I also bought a lens cleaning kit, a necessary accessory that I still was going without; all I had was this lens cleaner for my glasses, haha. I am beyond satisfied with my buy, and I recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade from their kit lens to an inexpensive, yet wonderful, lens. I put together a little batch of photos, here. I hope you enjoy them.

In other interests, it's Adam's birthday, so hat's off to you. And thanks Imadul for helping me spell irk, haha. Take everyone, see u.
Wednesday, March 8, 2006 - Random Update For March 2006
5:00 PM - This will probably be the only useless post this month. I am posting because I feel somewhat bad about not posting yesterday, but I really had nothing to post about since I still don't have my Kubrick shirt. And the strangest things... I didn't hear anyone say anything about his death day, hmm....

Well, tomorrow, I'm Insha Allah getting my new lens in the mail (see to the left) via UPS, tracking number: 1ZF148Y10344895308 and I'll be sure to snap some shots before I head to class. More on that tomorrow though. What I'd like to discuss today is this guy, that goes by the IP of 71.143.144.xxx (randomizing the last three digits just in case he or she wants his or her own privacy). Who the hell are you? I'm just curious. I know you've been visiting this site for a while now, and you've managed to bring yourself to the top of my hit list (and no, I'm not referring to a slaughter list, I don't have one). For all I know you're an anonymous server (I've recieved a couple of those before), but I'm just a bit curious, cos you always have the same computer resolution and browser and OS, so I'm just really curious. So if you're a real person, do you mind commenting and introducing yourself to the modenadude community? haha.

Talking about visitors, I'd also like to thank a person from Prague (a city in the Czech Republic) by the IP of 86.49.117.xxx - this visitor too has been rather loyal. I remember her/his visits from the beginning, (s)he used to come every morning (PST), but lately, their visits have decreased. But if you're reading this Mr. Prague, who are you?

By the way, at the time of this writing, GMail is down, haha. Oh, and the other day, Bush went to Pakistan, and although I didn't bring it up, I was going to say that we (Pakistanis) had plotted to capture Bush, as a joke, but I was afraid some government official might've been searching online for any intelligence on the matter, so I chose not to; I changed my mind, haha. And you see that guy on the top right of your screen? I'm going to discuss some things about him next week, Insha Allah, so keep an eye out. Alright, I'm done for my random post of the month, I'll be sure to come up with another one in April, Insha Allah. see u.
Monday, March 6, 2006 - Week 23's Words

9:30 PM - Alright you pesky last minute visitors, the words are up. They are coming a bit late tonight (but I will not apologize since you should be coming to my site on a regular hourly basis anyway) because I was busy for most of the afternoon, and I will not say with what because it is none of your guys' businesses, hmph. haha, I had an urge to say that, I honestly was just sitting around the house having no idea that today was Monday, haha. The words today ave very adjectival (and yes, that's the adjective for adjective), and deal a lot with Imp- (which means a mischievous dude). Okay, enough of this, here're the words:

So, did anyone watch the Oscars last night? I did, but they sucked, as I knew they would. Jon was funny though (and yes, I'm on a first name basis with him now) - but I don't really feel like going into this year's Oscars, but I sure will discuss the Oscars in two years, Insha Allah, that one will be awesome. And I might not get that Kubrick shirt by tomorrow, bummer; I still have a chance if Julian calls me up in the next couple of hours, but I doubt he will, but I can still wear it next Wednesday... why? I'll tell you later, Insha Allah. Oh, and I think I found a buyer on my lens - but I'll discuss that later too. Well that's enough for me guys. see u.
Friday, March 3, 2006 - My First Macros
7:20 PM - So I was in Jackson's today, just sitting around, like I always do every sixth period, surfing the web. I went to a site that I regularly visit, DPReview.com, and from there I found a link to a how-to of an idea I've heard of before where you take a two lenses, put them on top of each other, turning them into one macro lens. I've never actually gotten the opportunity before I bought the 350d, and now that I own one (and two lenses [soon to be third, Insha Allah, but more on that later]), I am able to mess with it.

So when I get home, I get my camera, attach the 18-55mm kit lens to it, set it to its telephoto and to infinity focus, then I take the 50mm prime and hold it in front of it after setting that to infinity focus as well and... voila - works like a charm. I was really impressed. It only works when it's about two inches from the subject, which is super cool, so you have to get rather close. Well I took some pictures, and made a little page out of it, which can be seen here.

In other interests, I bought a new lens two nights ago, the wonderfully brand new (by about 6 weeks) Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5, and yes, I'll take it off my "I Want List" after I receive it in the mail, Insha Allah. It has a minimum focus distance of 8 inches and can open up, at wide, at f/2.8 - quite a good replacement for the kit lens, I think. I'm also selling the kit lens on Craigslist, but am sort of having second thoughts about it. I will of course take some test shots of the lens and shots with the lens when I get it, but until then, you'll just have to wait ;). I'm technically done for the day, except I'd like to add that I don't like the yearbook sweatshirts for this year, and that Insha Allah next year's will be better... haha, so I'll say good-bye. Take care. see u.
Wednesday, March 1, 2006 - March 2006
12:01 AM - Happy New Month guys. Now that we got that out of the way, let's discuss what I plan to throw at you guys in this month. March is a somewhat big month, as Kubrick died seven years ago on March 7th. Why exactly am I pointing out his death day? Not to honor him or anything, it's more like to mourn our loss. I designed this thing to the left you see here (with aid from a prior caricature) and I hoped to throw it on a shirt and sell it on the site, but it doesn't look like the shirts will be coming in by that time. My buddy Julian hasn't got into contact with me on that, but who knows, it may still happen.

Hmm... I guess March is pretty dull, eh? Okay well, I'll also obviously be bringing you a review of Paths of Glory, Insha Allah - Kubrick's fourth film, a la the layout. I tried to mimic the poster, as I did last month, but I hear that some people think that the layout's images are a bit dark, I think I made this version a bit brighter than the prior.

Besides my Dad's technical birthday and my parents' anniversary, nothing really great happens in March, except for how it is supposed to be the start of Spring. I guess we have the Oscars to look forward to, or not if you don't like any of the films that came out last year. March 14 is Albert Einstein's birthday, as well as International Pi Day, so I guess you can look forward to that. Okay, I guess I'm done rambling. I hope you guys had a nice February; I had only about 500 people come in that month (with about 800 hits), so I hope to have more in this month, the seventh month by the way. Take care everyone. see u.
